[Identification code O-04-84, the Meat Lantern Abnormality, has escaped containment. Managers in the corresponding department, please suppress it immediately.]

Lobotomy Corporation has a system of 'departments' responsible for various tasks and the management of Abnormalities.

These departments are broadly divided into Upper, Central, and Lower layers, each further subdivided.

The Abnormality escaped from the Training Team, located on the far right of the Upper layer, the highest of the layers.
"Everyone heard that, right? We're going to suppress the Abnormality."

The one skillfully leading the rookies is Noah, a veteran manager who has survived eight days in the Training Team and risen to the position of team leader.

'You're bald...' Due to the Abnormality's effects, his head was now gleaming bald, attracting the rookies' attention for both good and bad reasons.

"The Meat Lantern's characteristic is simple, just remember this one thing. If you see a flower unexpectedly in the hallway, report it to me. Got it?"

"Yes sir!"

His figure, confidently walking at the front with a large, shining red greatsword in hand, instilled a sense of awe in the rookies.

⋯Though, there was another spot even shinier than the greatsword, which drew their gazes more.

"Employee Evangeline. You remember the Abnormality's classification, right?"

"Y-Yes sir!"

Employee Evangeline, suddenly called upon, hastily pulled out a notebook to check and began explaining the Abnormality's classification.

"First, there's the safest ZAYIN classification, the TETH classification that can inflict various damages, the HE classification where you must be prepared to die, the WAW classification that can cause dozens of casualties if it escapes, and the most dangerous ALEPH classification!"

Evangeline, having rattled off the information like a machine gun, wiped away a nervous sweat.

"Then, what's the classification of the Abnormality we're going to catch?"

""It's TETH!""

"TETH. The second lowest classification. But no matter how low the classification, the opponent is a monster beyond our human understanding. Remember that letting your guard down is a direct ticket to the afterlife."

""Understood!""

The rookies answered with a crispness befitting well-trained soldiers.

Noah slightly raised the corners of his mouth, satisfied with their response, but his mood quickly soured with the thoughts that followed.

No matter how much he helped these rookies, Lobotomy Corporation was a place where they could die in an instant just for being unlucky.

A place where a friendly and polite employee could go insane the next day, forcing you to cut them down with your own hands, or where they could become part of an Abnormality—a daily occurrence.

Lobotomy Corporation was that kind of place.

"I'll say it again because it's important. If you see a flower, don't go near it and report to me..."

"Uh... Team, Team Leader?"

Justin, who was suddenly looking down the left hallway, spoke in a bewildered voice.

"What is it?"

"I found the flower... but... how should I say this... there's someone there!"

What? Someone's near the Meat Lantern?

Could it be a rookie from another department who got lost and wandered down to the Training Team? Anxious, Noah rushed towards the employee who found the flower.

"You there! Whoever you are, get away from the flower!"

Could it be too late? Shouting with a sense of unease, he moved to the left hallway, and what Noah saw was...

"...?"

The Meat Lantern, which should have sprung up and swallowed anyone who approached.

The pure white flower, the rookies' nightmare.

It was plucked and held in the hand of a young girl.
