The deafening roar of a truck's horn ripped through the air, snapping her focus to the road.

Time seemed to slow as she turned toward the blinding headlights bearing down on her. Before she could react, a powerful shove sent her sprawling onto the asphalt.

Pain flared as her palms scraped the rough surface, but she barely noticed, her thoughts consumed by what had just happened.

The boy—he had pushed her out of truck way. Her heart thundered as she turned to look for him, he was laying down on the road, groaning in pain, one leg bent at an unnatural angle. Horror gripped her chest as she crawled toward him.

But she couldn't leave him. She tried to lift him, to drag him to safety despite his injuries, her own panic making her movements frantic and clumsy.

"You can't die on me," she said.

he smirked and said "I cannot die yet."

Then it came again—the ear-splitting blast of a horn. Her head snapped up, and dread filled her as another truck hurtled toward them, its headlights piercing the darkness.

Before she could do anything, he pushed her again, forcing her back onto the sidewalk. She watched in helpless horror as the truck slammed into him head-on, its monstrous frame swallowing him whole.

The sound was unbearable—the screech of brakes, the dull thud of impact.

When the truck roared past, she scrambled to her feet, her vision blurred with horror. She turned to where he should have been lying but there was nothing.

No body. No truck. Only the empty, desolate road.

Then, behind her, a horn, sharp and blaring, louder than ever. She spun around, her breath catching in her throat.

The truck was there, impossibly close, its massive frame bearing down on her.

Before she could scream, darkness swallowed her whole.

Her eyes flew open, and she bolted upright in bed, gasping for breath. Her room swam into focus the familiar walls, the soft light filtering through the curtains. It was her bed.

 "Sighs..Only a nightmare."

Now I feel bad he died because of me but he is literally next door.

White stood before the mirror, toothbrush in hand, the dark shadows under his eyes showing another sleepless night. As the bristles moved methodically, his mind drifted to last night to her, she gave him the toothbrush that she made in this era.

"She even made this, huh?" he murdered to himself.

Tomorrow night, the pouch of silver coins I got had thirty in total. I couldn't tell anyone—it was, technically, illegal. I wonder what that priest was doing there.

On the table, Zoey's mom set his breakfast down with a warm, "Here's your food."

"Thanks," he replied, his voice subdued.

Zoey soon joined them, and her mom placed a plate in front of her. "And here's yours."

"Oh thanks"

Zoey started eating, and so did White, though the shadows under his eyes made it clear—he hadn't slept much last night.

"What's wrong with your eyes?" she pondered.

He yawned and replied, "I just didn't sleep much last night."

It is normal with me actually, watching animes late at night like there is no tomorrow. I don't regret doing that actually.

I woke up here, about day ago uh got a job. You think waking up in a whole new world would change you but no matter where you go you always bring yourself.

"Hey, why doesn't this country do something about 'that thing'?" he asked.

"You know about 'that thing'?"

"It was obvious."he replied.

"The hero of this kingdom should be taking action on that," she said, a hint of irritation in her voice. "But for some reason, he's not doing anything."

He took a bite of the food and asked, "There's a hero here too?"

"All seven kingdoms have one or more heroes," she explained. "Even if the countries aren't on good terms, the heroes must come together to fight those things."

"Meaning this country's one of the shady ones. Better to get out of here, right?" he remarked.

"Nope," she replied, shaking her head. "Nobody can leave unless they're a soldier or trading goods with another country. They banned anyone from going outside three years ago. Said there are too many monsters beyond the walls."

"Means I kinda landed in the wrong place at the wrong time. Great," he sighed.

"By the way, can I use magic too?" he asked, curiosity flickering in his eyes.

"Give me your hands," she said, reaching out.

He complied, and she held them gently, closing her eyes. After a moment, she sighed and said, "I'm sorry to inform you, but you can't use magic."
