The New Lar's (Steven Universe / Lar's)

Chapter 25: A New Home

Steven: We found Lapis gem after the battle, but she hasn't come out yet. She's probably resting, but...

Peridot: But Jasper's gem is still 'missing' Do you have any idea what that means?! She's not just some ordinary Quartz soldier!

Steven: I know, Peridot! I was there, remember? The area was completely wrecked, it's like her gem just vanished after some explosion happened.

Sadie: Wait, hold on Who is Jasper? And why is this such a big deal?!

Before peridot would explain about Jasper, Lars interjected.

Lars: One of Steven family enemy.

Steven looked at Lars confused but then nod, seeing what he is doing.

Sadie: They got more of them?

Lars: Mhm.

Peridot: Pretty much.

Sadie would just sigh as she finishes her food, along with Steven.

Sadie: This really isn't what I expected for lunch...

Steven finally decided to use his brain as he now notice her confusion and concern plain on her face. He slaps his forehead in realization.

Steven: Oh no! Sadie! I didn't mean to dump all this on you when you and Lars are on date!

As she was about to wave off the start of Steven words as 'It is alright, Steven'... Her face shifted to overdrive and went red.

Sadie: D-D-DATE?!

She glance at Lars whose expression was the same and calm as he was taking the plates and walking over to the kitchen to wash up. Steven already had a plan and was teasing Sadie, Afterall... He ships Sadie and Lars together as Peridot is sitting there confuse but got up and inspect the room again.

After the delight of the events that transpired for their lunch at Lars residence, Lars had met them all at the gate entrance as he was walking Sadie back home as Steven and Peridot had left just before them, Peridot not too pleased as this means more walking since there was no warp pad nearby.

Peridot: Why do humans insist on walking everywhere? Such an inefficient method of transportation! If only there were a warp pad nearby...

Steven: Walking's great, Peridot! You get to stretch your legs, enjoy the fresh air-

Peridot: Ugh, you sound like Garnet...

Their voices trail off as Lars and Sadie continue down the road, the silence between them growing. Sadie glances sideways at Lars, her expression a mix of embarrassment and joy.

Sadie: Thanks for lunch, Lars. I didn't expect... well, all of that.

Lars: Yeah, Steven has a way of turning a simple meal into a whole thing. And Peridot... she's is a special case.

Sadie: That's one way to put it. I think I'm still processing half of what they said.

Lars: You get used to it.

Sadie slows her pace slightly, her voice hesitant as she speaks.

Sadie: You've changed, you know. Since... everything.

Lars: Changed how?

Sadie: You're... calmer. More confident, I guess? Like, you've been through so much that... this stuff doesn't faze you nor does anything.
