Of course that I had to act swiftly. This wasn't a game or just another challenge for me. This was someone else's happiness. So, I began working on this starting the next day.

In the morning, I visited Murad again with our son. He was delighted to see us. After spending a while together, I decided to open the topic.

- Murad...can I ask you a question?

- Yes, of course...

His eyes were still laid on Suleyman, but I could tell that his attention was on me.

- You and I, you know...are we...ever going to get married someday?

I know, I know, I unfortunately know that this wasn't the best idea how to help Fatma Sultan nor myself, but I had to get to the point somehow.

- What does that mean? - he wasn't pleased with the question.

Who would be? I asked him about something that's forbidden, why would I do that when I know that I shouldn't.

- Well...you know...

- Why would I do such thing? - His voice was serious now.

His eyes had become sharp and cold. Oh, oh.

- They apparently don't keep you with much to do in the Harem that you've started to see dreams like this, - my God wasn't he angry.

I became worried, but I remained calm and didn't react negatively. This wasn't why I opened the conversation anyway. I had to change the subject into the one I was supposed to really discuss.

- Please, I...I just said something wrong that's it, - I answered trying to soften him, - I know that such idea is forbidden, but I was just curious and did a mistake. That's it, - he looked at Suleyman once more before handing him to me and getting up.

Sadness entered my heart, but I didn't want to be affected by this. It all went in a bad way and the only way how to change it had to be used.
I got up and followed him as he was sitting on his desk reading a few documents.

- My dear, would you like to dine together tonight? - I said while touching his hand trying to change the subject.

- I'm busy, - his tone was so unfriendly as if I was bothering him.

But I couldn't blame him.

- I guess I have to leave you alone now, - I replied also playing my game of the intonation.

I bowed lightly and proceeded to walk out.

- Mihrişah, - his voice stopped my feet from advancing.

- Yes, Your Majesty, - and I stepped back in.

- In one of these days my sister Hanzade Sultan is going to come to the Palace, - now he was looking at me while talking, but not with the previous anger, - I want her to receive the best treatment by everyone. Everyone, - and put the emphasis on the last word.

I smiled politely before walking out again, holding my frustration.

How could he doubt my behaviour? How could he think that I wouldn't respect his sister? Or maybe he wasn't talking about me? Who was he talking about, then? That stare, that word: "everyone." God, by remembering that mimic of his, it drives me so mad. Isn't it like I am not to blame, but for one little, tiny mistake who wasn't even intended for what he could've thought, he had to act this way? How soon he forgets the events of two days ago, where happiness was so strong that what just happened a while ago couldn't even be imagined to happen.

- Wow, why are you angry? - Eudokia asked as I sat down on the sofa.

- Nothing, Murad again, - I responded and started caressing my child.
