Cobra Kai has a bad reputation and its main sensei Terry Silver is cunning, ruthless and deceptive. For many years Terry Silver has been looking for the right protégé that will take over Cobra Kai when he dies. Silver has been hard at work to find the best candidate to take over his Cobra Kai dojo. He wants to mold a smart, cunning young mind and mold it to become a supreme fighting machine that intimidates all opponents with absolutely no mercy. John Kreese and Terry Silver had a falling out thanks to Johnny Lawrence. Terry Silver has never forgotten that and he has been planning for payback for quite some time.
About four months ago Silver got a new student by the name of Mark Russell whose wealthy parents Albert and Vanessa Russell wanted for their son to be more sociable towards others. Mark's parents did not want for their son to be a weakling. Mark was a quiet kid that had a dark secret. As it turned out Mark was constantly physically harassed by the principal of his school who was thought to be a man of integrity, a true pillar of the community. David Froehlich had been a principal at the West Valley High School for over 4 years.
A tragic experience can scar a person in many ways. Mark Russell felt that he could not trust anyone with what was really going on. It did not help that his parents were close friends with David Froehlich. After seeing Mark at the dojo Terry Silver decided to have a private interview with Mark. Silver had asked Mark's parents to step out of his office while he had some one-on-one time in getting to know their son. Terry noticed that Mark seemed to be hiding something and then Terry gave Mark a piece of advice. Terry told Mark the following words: "In this life Mark you must decide if you want to be the prey that will eventually be devoured by the vile predators that roam this world or you can become a part of a powerful strong pack of warriors that can take down any vile predator that tries to cause any harm." Mark told Silver that he wanted to find the courage to fight back against his own vile predator. Terry Silver smiled after hearing those words.
Terry Silver told Mark's parents that he will teach him personally along with two of his top students which were Robert Stewart and Dwight Samuels. Terry started to train Mark into becoming a tremendous fighter. Silver kept telling Mark the following words: "We never stop and we always get even with those that have wronged us. Life is all about control, domination and intimidation. Once you master your rage you must be ready to unleash it at the right moment. An enemy of a Cobra Kai warrior deserves an existence of misery and pain." Mark took those words to heart and he began to develop a strong friendship with both Dwight Samuels and Robert Stewart.
As time went on Mark was ready to strike his true enemy. Silver had gotten Mark to tell him what David Froehlich had done to him. Terry Silver told Mark that before he made a move to vanquish his enemy that he should study his every move and coordinate an attack when he is at his most vulnerable. Mark did notice that David Froehlich did like to take a jog by himself at the park. He told this to Silver and then they made a plan to strike. A few days later, Mark's principal had been mysteriously attacked by masked assailants that were all dressed in black. David Froehlich was in a coma and many of his bones had been completely shattered. Now Terry Silver had a new dangerous pupil which he would unleash on his own enemies when the time was right.
