It had already been three days since Lapis had agreed to stay with Lars. In that short time, a sense of quiet companionship had formed between them.

Lapis, while still quiet, had begun to relax in the space Lars had given her. She had spent the last few days just observing, slowly growing accustomed to the rhythm of his home and the way he carried himself. Unlike Steven, who spoke easily and filled the silence with light-hearted chatter, Lars was different. He wasn't exactly a talker, but there was something about his presence that made Lapis feel at ease.

Lars wasn't loud or brash. He wasn't trying to fill every moment with words, but it was in the way he carried himself... A quiet, unwavering confidence that filled the room even when he said nothing. He had this way of being solid, like an unshakable wall, steady and reliable. It was a calm that Lapis found comforting, almost protective in a way.

As Lapis sat by the window one evening, her gaze out towards where Lars was just visible from in the room connected to the house that he calls the 'Kendo Room' as he was practicing what seem to be sword swings by himself

Lapis: He has been doing this for an hour straight...

Lapis didn't mind Lars focusing on his routine, even if she never fully understood why he did it every day at the same time. But there was something about it she connected with a small, fleeting moment of confliction in his eyes before his gaze went sharp and it disappeared as he stared into the middle of the room, like he was seeing something only he could. It reminded her of the way she sometimes felt, trapped between the past and the present.
