Y/N's Morning
The faint rays of dawn peeked through the curtains as Y/N stirred in bed. Her phone buzzed quietly on the bedside table, the notification light blinking rhythmically in the dim room. Stretching out her arm, she grabbed it, squinting at the screen. A message from Hana illuminated her tired eyes:
Hana:
"You better show up today 👀 We miss you!"
Y/N let out a small laugh, her lips curling into a faint smile. After days of emotional turmoil and hiding away at Bachira's house, she knew she couldn't keep running. Her friends deserved more than radio silence, and deep down, she missed them too.
Throwing off the covers, she sat up slowly, her muscles stiff but her resolve forming. It's time to face everything, she told herself.
Dragging herself to the bathroom, Y/N splashed cold water on her face, letting it wash away the remnants of exhaustion. She took a deep breath and looked at herself in the mirror. Though her eyes were still shadowed with fatigue, a spark of determination had returned.
She slipped into her school uniform, adjusting the tie with slightly shaky hands. As she packed her bag, her thoughts wandered to her friends—Aiko's infectious enthusiasm, Hana's fierce loyalty, Ren's steady logic. They had always been her anchor.
"Today," she murmured to herself, "I need to let them in. They deserve that."
By the time she stepped out of her room, dressed and ready, the comforting aroma of breakfast greeted her. Bachira's mother was busy in the kitchen, her movements quick yet graceful.
"Good morning, Y/N," she greeted warmly, turning to face her with a plate of toast and eggs. "You're up early. Are you feeling better?"
Y/N nodded, offering a shy smile. "Yeah. I think it's time I went back to school."
"That's a brave choice." Bachira's mom placed the plate on the table and gestured for her to sit. "You've been through a lot, but I know you'll get through this."
Her encouraging words filled Y/N with a sense of warmth she hadn't felt in days. As she ate, she rehearsed what she would say to her friends, her nerves mixing with a strange excitement. She couldn't avoid her life any longer—it was time to face the world.
The school grounds buzzed with activity as Y/N approached, her steps hesitant but purposeful. She adjusted the strap of her bag, her gaze flickering nervously over the sea of familiar faces. A part of her worried what people might say about her absence, but another part—one she was desperately trying to nurture—reminded her that she had her friends.
"Y/N!"
She turned toward the voice just in time to see Aiko sprinting toward her, her bright smile practically glowing. Before Y/N could react, Aiko flung her arms around her in a tight hug.
"We missed you so much!" Aiko exclaimed, pulling back slightly to study Y/N's face. Her eyes narrowed with mock seriousness. "But, like, are you okay? You look tired. Did you sleep? Are you eating? You didn't just survive on instant noodles, right?"
"Aiko, breathe," came Ren's voice as he approached, his tone dry but tinged with relief. Hana followed close behind, her arms crossed and a no-nonsense expression on her face.
