Dear Leslie Burke,
I know I don't write poems, letters, poetry or even essays, but I am writing one just for you. You're such a better writer than me, so don't make fun of me. Anyway, if you've been watching me you know how much everything has changed. You've seen the Walkers, the dead bodies, it's like the Dark Master has finally won. But he won't, ever.
I made a best friend while you were gone, his name is Carl Grimes and he's the best guy I've ever met, you have a bit of competition. Only joking, I would never compare you two. Carl reminds me just like you, we play Terabithia a lot, he's kind and funny and he's even pretty like you.
May Belle's doing fine, I think she's too young to be living like this but my dad is going to teach her how to use a gun sometime soon. My parents also miss you, my dad's been much more softer with me and my mom makes sure nothing happens between me Carl and May Belle.
It's Janurary 14th, 2011. It's a few months into the outbreak, in a few months it would be the year of your death. I don't know if anyone else remembers, but I won't tell them. This is just between you and me, no Carl no May Belle and no adults.
I've also been doing fine Leslie, I wasn't at first like at all. But then my Dad talked to me and when I introduced May Belle to Terabithia I felt a bit better. When the world changed it felt much worse, seeing a Walker for the first time was the worst. I felt like if you saw one you would probably imagine it to be one of the Dark Master's soldiers and fight it, I know how brave you are.
As for Terabithia Carl May Belle and I haven't found a new kingdom yet after we left the shed. The group has been going from house to house, we sometimes stay at yucky houses but we leave the next day so we can't really make a new kingdom if we're going to leave anyway. I think were making our way to South Carolina, never been there before but maybe we will find something.
Anyway, I think I'm done with this letter. I'll keep it around me all the time, something to remember you by as well as all the drawings I drew of you. And if you're reading this Carl or May Belle, please just tell me if you did. I won't get mad, I don't wanna get lied at okay?
I love you Leslie, I miss you so much. I hope your parents are also okay too, wonder how they're doing.
