Hey Guys!!! So I know this chapter is super short, but I was wondering if you like Finian and Emris's dynamic. Comment if you do! Thanks guys!

"What? I haven't killed anybody today."

"What do you want, a gold star?"

"Yes, please."

Finian rolled his eyes. "You're insane, you know that?"

"I prefer creative."

He laughed and sheathed his sword. "Come on."

We walked through the alleys, careful to hide under the hoods of our cloaks. I let my eyes trace over his face, memorizing every feature. "I'm going to miss you, " I whispered, intertwining our fingers once we reached the dock.

"Yeah, me too. Well, maybe more if you weren't a wanted criminal and could just come back to me."

I groaned and rolled my eyes.

"Right now, I'm not sure if I want to kiss you or shove you off the dock."

"Can I pick?"

"Shut up."

"Make me," Finian whispered, leaning close enough for me to smell his breath. It smelled like seawater and chocolate.

"Alright," I say, leaning even more close. Then I wrapped my leg around his, grabbed his shoulders, and pushed him to the ground with a groan. I put my knee onto his abdomen to prevent him from getting up.

"There. Sufficiently shut up."

"Your crushing my spleen." He grunted.

"You dont even know where your spleen is." I said, standing and dusting off my cloak.

Finian rubbed the back of his head, but he was grinning. "Point taken. Always beware of my super-powerful girlfriend."

I drew a shaky breath, telling myself this wouldnt be the last time I saw him. "You have to guard your weak spot. Be careful. Or else we might never see each other again."

"I don't believe in never."

"I don't believe in always." I countered.

"Opposites attract."

"Never." I grumble.

"Always." He finished, flashing his best smirk.

The trumpet fanfare cut off my reply. "Guess that's my cue," Finian said, collecting his smushed journal from where I had judo-flipped him onto and kissing me goodbye before I could respond. "See you soon, Emris." Then he strode off to his carriage without another word.
