Present day Storybrooke, Lisa tells Edward she has been accepted at a medical school in Boston. She figures they could use a fresh start, but Edward only replies that he needs to take a walk, leaving out the fact that he is taking this walk with Hope. He tells Hope that he chooses her over his wife and is not going to leave Storybrooke. Hope insists he must tell Lisa the truth and let her go to Manhattan alone. Edward attempts to do this but instead makes up an excuse about not reconnecting as he breaks up with Lisa. She is devastated, but remains unaware that there is another woman involved.

Meanwhile, Edward tells Hope he told Lisa about them. Soon after, Lisa slaps Hope's face in the middle of school and tells the confused teacher that Edward lied to them both. Later, Hope notices people are avoiding her and whispering behind her back. She bumps into Emma who tells her she should be ashamed of herself. She asks Edward why he never told Lisa the truth, to which he replies that he didn't want anyone to get hurt. Hope tells him that they do not have love but something destructive that must stop, so she breaks up with him.

Elsewhere, Lisa goes to see Zelena again, this time to apologize for what she said. Lisa admits that she was never in love with Edward, and that she is moving to Boston alone. Lisa adds that she wrote letters to both Edward and Hope telling them to be together, as they looked happy in the pictures. Insistent on preventing this act of forgiveness from becoming known, Zelena steals the letter addressed to David and burns it. Later, Renee returns the book to Grace, who believes that its discovery is a sign that things will change for the better. Lisa sets off in her car for Boston. Zelena receives a fax and calls Walsh to inform him she has the phone records. He brings Renee the records that show Edward did in fact speak to Lisa the day she vanished. Renee has a hard time believing Edward lied but Walsh insists the evidence is irrefutable. Than Renee taking Edward to the sheriff's station to "tell her everything."

At the sheriff's office, Renee asks Edward a few questions about Lisa's absence, but since there is no proof of a crime, she lets him go. Than Hope later goes to the spot where Lisa had disappeared and runs into Edward, who is now acting strange and keeps repeating over and over that he's looking for his wife, leaving Hope very concerned about his behavior. Meanwhile,  At Edward's place of work, he paces in the lobby with Hope trying to calm him down. Renee comes in to tell them about something that she found in the phone records, which had a blackmail caller.
