CHAPTER 8

It's been a busy morning between all of us throwing ideas out, figuring out how exactly we are going to set them up without any heat coming back our way. We know my moms been trying to figure out where I am but she hasn't tried to figure out how to contact me. So, I won't be able to trick her with the mother daughter stuff, I don't even think I had it in me to hold back and fake it anyways.

We already know they are in New York, and most likely staying or teamed up with Tommy's mom for some odd reason. It didn't make sense that my dad had an affair with her and my mom is suddenly team side chick.

That's when the perfect idea popped in my head!

"I think I got it." I said to everyone, gaining their attention. "Grace. I know she still has to earn everyone's trust and of course we can have a backup plan but I think she's our in. If my mom reached out to her for info we can have her feed it to them somehow."

"I hear what you're saying but she said they reached out to her with a private number. So she wouldn't even know how to reach out to them." Kole replied.

I didn't think about that.

"Well its clear they don't know that me and Grace fell out, so I'm sure my moms thinking nothing changed and we are still as close as before she left. I bet you they are watching her." I said. "So why don't we fly her out here? They will see she came to New York and will know I'm somewhere here."

"That's way to risky. We don't know if she will betray us or anything." Kole interjected.

His parents haven't said anything yet, I could tell they were in deep thought about this whole situation.

"We have 24/7 security, I'm not as naïve as I used to be, and on top of that what's the safer option than being in our own home? We can invite her to stay in the guest room. We don't even have to tell her about the plan just pretend I want to spend time with her. Which I do but you know what I mean." I explained.

"No" Kole sad flatly.

"It's not a bad idea though" Koles dad said. "Your mom and I will stay here too and we can double security until everything is done."

Kole let out a sigh as his hand slid down his face in slight frustration.

"Alright. Lexi call Grace tell her we will send the plane for her tomorrow. I'll make sure Robby makes her flight info public so it can be easily traced." He said in a low tone.

A smile spread across my face as I grabbed my phone, calling her on speaker phone.

"Hey girl" she answered.

"Hey so I know its last minute but I have a surprise." I said in a perky tone.

"Okay... What is it?" she asked with a small laugh.

"Koles sending a private plane for you tomorrow so you can come visit!"

"Wow. Really? You know he doesn't like me much." She asked

"Yes! I'm glad we've been working on things and this will give us a better chance to catch up and hang out. And I can show you our new place."

"Okay!! Yay! Oh and what state am I flying too? I need to know what to pack" She giggled.

"New York."

"Wow cool! I've never been. And never expected you to live in a busy place like that."

"Yep! I actually like it a lot. I think you will too." I replied

"I am so excited. I'm about to pack now! Just don't forget to text me later when I should be there and where I should go." She said in an upbeat tone.

"For sure!" I replied before hanging up.

"I kind of feel bad for lying to her" I confessed as a little guilt panged in my chest after we got off the phone. I was genuinely excited to see her and just have some normal girl time and a friend again.

"I know sweetie but its for her safety and ours until we figure out if shes trustworthy or not." Laurena said trying to comfort me.

"Yeah you're right." I agreed before looking at Kole.

"You okay?" I asked

"I'm fine. I just don't know about this. I'm gonna head in the office and make the arrangements" He replied before walking to his office and closing the door behind him.

"Don't worry sweetie, he'll come around. Come on, I'll make us some tea." Laurena said.

"I'm gonna go talk with Kole. Save me a cup?" Alaric asked Laurena.

"Of course" She replied winking at him.

KOLE

I sat at my desk for a minute in thought. I really didn't like this. I understand Grace could have turned over a new leaf and was forced by her dad to do what she did. I just didn't trust the bitch after the danger she put Lexi through. And the thought of bringing her into my home, the only true safe space Lexi and I have together is an un easy feeling. I hope she proves me wrong I really do.

I'm also worried about the plan in general. I don't think Lexi is really seeing the reality of the situation. Killing her mom? No matter what she's done I don't think she'll be able to handle it. She's just in a bad place mentally right now and she's angry at her mother's actions. I don't know if she's mad enough to really follow through with it though and kill her and be able to live with it afterwards. Maybe Grace being here will remind her of the love she had for her mom and will change her mind about being the one to do it. I don't want her to have any death by her hands on her conscious, especially her mom's. Don't get me wrong I want her and Pete both gone, they pose the biggest threat to Lexi moving on and living a peaceful life. The more I think the more I realize maybe if Pete is gone then her mom isn't a threat. She's an on and off addict who rides the wave of whatever man is in her face.

There was a short knock on the door before my dad came in.

"What's on your mind son?" he asked

"I'm starting to think killing her mom isn't the way to go. Pete yeah but her? I'm not sure. She's just angry right now I don't think she could handle that." I said honestly.

"I agree." He said before pouring us a drink. "Let's get this flight ready to go and then call the security company. We are going to want to have double guards by tonight since they could find out about the flight anytime from today to tomorrow."

"For sure. They don't know where we live yet but I'm willing to bet my last dollar someone will tail her car here from the airport." I replied while texting Robby with directions on what to do.

"I know I don't say it often but I'm proud of you. You are handling everything well and I'd be honored to have you running things when I finally decide to retire" my dad said with grin as he raised his glass to cheers me.

"Thanks dad." I replied smiling.
