Finally Free

It had been 2 months since Amelia had come to live with the Malik family. She had gone to one adoption night gathering, but no one was interested in a 12 year old. She thought it was a waste of time because no one was going to want her.

She was having a hard time because as she got closer to Liam, Zayn, and the boys, she was afraid of it ending. She knew she was supposed to be there 3 months max, so time was almost up.

Though things had settled for a while , she only got into trouble a handful of times and usually with her foster brothers. Like the time, Michael and Harry decided to steal the whole plate of cookies Louis had baked for the family movie night and ate all of them.

The three thieves spent family movie night standing in the corner. Another incident was when Luke, Niall, and Amelia snuck into the game room after everyone was asleep to play video games. Josh caught them because, of course, the three got very loud he scolded them and said he wouldn't tell if they went straight to bed.

Unfortunately, as they were headed out, Zayn walked in hearing noises upstairs when he had gotten up to get something to drink. The three 12 year olds went to bed with very sore behinds.

There was also the time Zayn was out and Amelia decided to mouth off to Liam when he told her to go to her room for a time out she cursed at him earning a round with the wooden spoon.

Afterward her and Liam had a long talk, and she confessed she had been in a bad mood because it was the anniversary of her parents' death. That afternoon, Zayn and Liam took her to the graveyard with flowers to visit her parents.

Zayn had told her that she needed to remember that as long as her heart was beating, she should allow herself to open it up to people, and she would find the freedom that came with it. It inspired her to write another song.

"Okay class let's take turns groups one at a time come into the studio and show me what you have worked on out of all my classes, I will pick the top 3 groups to perform at Family Night." Sandy, the music teacher, announced.

Amelia was nervous she and her brothers changed the song they were working on because Niall and Josh walked in while she was practicing a new song and they loved it so much they begged her to show them all. Harry and Calum loved it too, so they had been practicing at lunch and after school.

When Sandy called their group, they played the song when it was over he just sat there for a minute. The kids started to worry he didn't like it.

"That was..... The best thing I've heard in so long. Amelia, your voice is beautiful, and boys, the playing was spot on. Do me a favor, you are my secret weapon for Family Night don't tell anyone you're playing just show up and I'll announce you," the five kids smiled at him and promised not to say anything.

"Harry and Calum, I know you are playing with Ashton, Michael, and Louis for my other class. Don't tell your brothers about your secret performance."

"We won't," they promised.

Three weeks later at breakfast, “Louis, Ashton, Calum, and Harry, do you have your clothes out for tonight's performance?” Liam asked them.

"Yes, everyone put theirs on my bed," Harry stated.

"Okay, Papa will bring them after school to you." Liam informed him.

"Me, Josh, and Amelia have stage duty tonight, so we have to stay after school to set up," Niall told him

"The rest of you meet me in my classroom after school, and after the performance, we are going to dinner. Your father and I have a special announcement." School went by no problem.
