Two weeks passed, and Phayu sat on the edge of his bed, staring at his phone. His heart felt heavy, and his emotions were all over the place-confusion, longing, and fear. He missed Rain so much, but Rain was avoiding him. The silence between them hurt more than anything. Phayu knew deep down he hadn't done enough to win Rain's trust back.
Feeling helpless, Phayu called Pai. The phone rang for a moment before Pai answered, sounding cheerful as always.
"Phayu? Calling me so late? What's up?"
Pai joked.
Phayu's voice cracked with frustration.
"Pai, I can't do this anymore. I miss him so much, but he's avoiding me. I don't know what to do. I feel like I've already lost him."
Pai's teasing tone softened.
"Phayu, calm down. You're not the type to give up so easily. Give Rain some space. He needs time to process things."
Phayu groaned.
"Space? How much more time does he need? I can't just sit here waiting forever. What if he's already moved on?"
Pai sighed.
"Phayu, let me talk to Rain. I know him better than you think."
After hanging up, Pai called Rain. Rain answered after a moment, sounding hesitant.
"P'Pai?"
Rain asked softly.
"Rain, what's going on? Tell me, What have you decided about Phayu?"
Pai said gently.
Rain hesitated before replying,
"I've been thinking a lot, P'Pai. I like him. I really do. But I don't want to keep getting hurt. I need him to come to me this time. I want him to realize my worth. I can't always be the one putting in the effort."
Pai's voice was serious now.
"I understand, Rain. But you also need to understand that Phayu is trying in his own way. He's scared of losing you."
Rain sighed.
"I know, but I don't want to keep waiting forever. If he really loves me, he needs to show it. He needs to change."
Pai : "You're right, Rain. It's okay to feel this way. But don't forget-change takes time. Phayu won't become perfect overnight. If you're willing to wait for him, you also need to show him that you're still there for him."
Rain was quiet, thinking about Pai's words. Finally, he said softly,
"I won't give up on him. I'll wait, but only if he's really willing to change."
"Good,"
Pai said.
"I'm rooting for you both."
After their call, Pai immediately called Phayu back.
"I talked to Rain,"
Pai began...
"He likes you, Phayu. But he said he needs you to put in the effort. Waiting isn't enough anymore. You need to show him you're serious about changing."
Phayu's voice was quiet.
"I don't want to lose him. I've never felt like this about anyone before. But... how do I even start? I don't know how to do these things...How can I be what he needs?"
Pai's tone was firm but encouraging.
"You already know what to do, Phayu. Show him through small things. Be caring, gentle, and honest. Big gestures are nice, but what Rain needs is consistency. He's scared of your anger, so control it. Be patient with him. If you do that, he'll see how much you care."
