When Rain returned to his condo, his friend Sky noticed his downcast expression. Rain seemed lost in thought, sadness evident on his face. Concerned, Sky approached him, unable to ignore his friend's troubled mood. Though he had asked Rain before what was wrong, Rain had always brushed it off. Sky knew part of the story-how they'd met at the club, how Rain had gone to Phayu's apartment, and even how he had picked him up once-but Rain had never opened up fully.
This time, however, Sky was determined to get to the bottom of it. Sitting beside Rain, he pressed gently but firmly,
"Come on, Rain, just tell me what's going on. I can see you're not yourself lately."
Finally, Rain sighed and, sitting on the bed, began to explain everything-the words Phayu had said that had hurt him deeply. As Rain recounted the details, Sky listened intently, his expression shifting to confusion.
After a moment, Sky spoke up, with genuine concern.
"Rain, I don't know what to make of this, but... honestly, I don't think you should be in this relationship. From what you're saying, I can't even tell if you two are actually dating or not. He calls you his boyfriend, but he's treating you like a stranger, not even like a friend."
Sky continued,
"You've only seen each other a few times, maybe four or five, and it seems like those times were just... physical. You don't even know basic things about each other-no background, no real conversations. He ignores you, hurts you, avoids you, yet still tries to control you. I don't understand, Rain. He says he's too busy for you, but then he gets jealous when you're with someone else. This isn't 'liking' you. It's like he's just keeping you around for convenience."
Sky placed a comforting hand on Rain's shoulder.
"You deserve someone who will treat you with respect, someone who's genuine and who truly cares about you. I've watched you change since you met him. You used to be so happy, but now... now you're just sad and confused all the time. You deserve a boyfriend who makes you happy, someone who values you, not someone who makes you feel small."
He smiled softly, trying to lighten the mood.
"And Rain, you're sweet, cute, innocent... and pretty too! I'm sure you can find someone who genuinely appreciates all that. Let this go, and find someone who will make you smile, not tear you down."
Tears filled Rain's eyes as he spoke softly,
"But Sky, he's never actually hurt me. On the surface, yes, his words can be dominant and rough, but when we're together, he cares about me... about my comfort, my pleasure. He's always gentle with me, more than he says he is with others. He even tells me that I'm soft and delicate, that I'm cute and pretty... that he likes me. He's said it so many times, and he makes sure I know he doesn't want to hurt me. And... sometimes he really is so gentle and soft with me."
Sky sighed, watching his friend with a mix of compassion and worry.
"Rain, liking someone isn't just about being treated well in certain moments or being told nice things sometimes. A real relationship is about consistent care, respect, and genuine consideration, whether you're together or apart. I get it, especially after what happened with your first boyfriend, I can see why you think this is special. And sure, Phayu seems a lot better than that, but you have to understand... relationships, real ones, aren't just about moments here and there."
He looked at Rain,
"If you saw other couples, Rain, you'd understand what I mean. Dating is about sharing everything, the good, the bad, supporting each other, and genuinely loving each other. It's not just about someone saying they like you or treating you well here and there."
