Duke POV:

I was doing paperwork when one of my guards told me someone was here to see me and said it was urgent.

I told them to let the person in, but I wasn't expecting it to be a kid—not just any kid, but Penelope.

I often saw her with my daughter Layla, and she was also the one who pushed Lilliana.

After putting the papers down, I asked what she wanted.

After she finished talking and begged me to unground her, saying it was her fault, I thought I might have been too harsh, so I allowed it.

Once she left, I called in the guard and told him to dispose of any gossip and make sure people weren't spreading false rumors.

Even though some people were talking about it, it wasn't blown out of proportion, and I could still calm it down and push it under the rug. Afterwards, I decided to get back to work.

Lilliana POV:

After reading and playing upstairs, we decided to head downstairs to get a snack when we saw a person come out of our father's office, so we stopped.

Levi had no idea who she was when he asked if I know, she was Layla's friend and the one who pushed me.

As we watched her head towards Layla's room, my hands squeezed into a fist. I tried not to accuse Layla, but I did have my doubts.

I didn't want to worry Levi after the awkward atmosphere, so I just laughed it off and told him we'd go get cookies to distract him.

Eventually it works, and we head downstairs.
