pre-game game : ch 10

Caitlin and Nora's newfound friendship was obvious to those around them. While the two still bickered and disagreed more often than not, their chemistry on the court was unbeatable. Everybody loves a good point guard/shooting guard duo, and these two seemed unstoppable during practice. With Caitlin's dime passing and their combined shooting, it was looking to be a good year for the Fever.

The Sky had been awarded the third pick of the 2025 draft and selected USC star, Kiki Iriafen.

Indianapolis, Indiana. 2025. The morning of the Fever vs the Sky game.

Nora was in her apartment, she still had failed to unpack fully, laziness had gotten the best of her and a few boxes were on the floor in each room. She nervously was watching film of her playing in her last game, biting her nails while doing so, watching every opportunity she had that was missed.

Nora swiped up, exiting her photos app and opening back up her text message conversation with Paige. The two had been talking nonstop since LA, Nora had found herself thinking about Paige more often than not. When the two weren't texting, they were either on facetime or asleep.

Caitlin was home, alone. Her boyfriend was coming to her game today and all she was feeling was dread.. Caitlin picked up her phone and did something she never thought she'd want to do.

Caitlin texted Nora.

Nora raised a brow, moving quickly from her chat with Paige to her chat with Caitlin. Hesitating, thinking about why Caitlin might be texting her before responding,

nothing much jus watching film and texting paige

are u two like a thing now

Nora giggled, the more she had thought about Caitlin and her conversation with Paige about Caitlin, the more she thought Caitlin had some weird kind of crush on her. It did make sense... The teasing, the long stares, the clear jealousy directed at Paige, the kisses. Nora knew Caitlin had a crush on her, she just didn't know if Caitlin herself knew.

Caitlin quickly responded, as if she had her messages open, waiting for Nora's reply

Nora smiled, Caitlin wanted to be her friend, her teammate.

Nora tossed her phone back on her bed, quickly putting her hair up and putting on Indiana Fever shorts and a white compression shirt. Nora grabbed her game day bag, a water bottle, and her phone seeing a few missed texts from Paige... While texting Caitlin, she had forgotten about Paige entirely.
