Chapter 4: Puzzling puzzles in Pizzas.

I heard the alarm clock ring and slammed it to silence the shrill of voice of the wretched creation. I got off my bed and trotted down the flight of stairs to make myself a cup of coffee but I could already smell its scent waft throughout the house. Man, am I hallucinating?  I guess not, Xavier was sitting on the couch with his arms folded and a cup of coffee on the table. He wasn't even smiling; his face was stone cold, like those of proper security personnel.

"Good morning, big man." I joked

"Hey." He flashed me a million dollar smile. I'm not going to lie, this man is beautiful. Too bad he's not as beautiful as my Channing. He had a little scar above his eyebrow, I wanted to know how he got it but I felt it would be inappropriate to ask.

"Did you sleep well?" I asked him.

"Sorry about the mess."  I added as I glanced around and noticed that my house had turned into an absolute nightmare.

Joey had assigned Xavier to watch over the kids and me every day and night until we found out who killed my beloved husband thus I had cleared out the guest room for him. Although, he said he wouldn't mind sleeping on the couch in the living room, but really? You're going to let someone sleep in the living room and not a proper bed when they're going to protect you 24/7 hence I insisted on giving him the guest room.

“Yeah, though I have to say, such a luxurious room for a guard is quite the 5-star treatment, so thank you.”

“Don’t worry about it, besides I should be the one thanking you, it’s the least I can do for you since you’re protecting my two monkeys and I.”

“You mean Lindsay and Isaac?”

How does he know the name of my children? Has he been spying on us before Joey sent him here? I stared at him attentively to see if I could catch him slip up over his cover of the ‘nice, good guard.’

“You’ve met them already?”

“Not quite but it helps to know the details and names of the people you are protecting.”

“True that.”

“Plus, I've been in this house for more than 12 hours, which is more than enough time to observe my surroundings, like the cups over there which have ‘Baby Lindsay and Isaac the Mafioso’ written on them." He said calmly while observing his surroundings.

"Oh." Yeah, I'm over-reacting. How pathetic could I get? I shuffled my feet and looked at the ground in shame for doubting the man while he made his way up the flight of stairs.

I walked up to Isaac's room to wake him up with Xavier in tow. The kids had a long day yesterday so it’s no surprise that they slept in, it’s almost eleven and I haven’t heard one scream. I heard soft chuckles coming in from the room and I looked at Xavier with one eyebrow raised and gently knocked on the door.

“Isaac?”

I heard some feet shuffle towards the door and then a blue eye covered with some brunette hair peered up at me and left the door ajar.

"Lin! Don't let mommy in yet. We didn't finish our plan." Isaac said, pestered by his sister’s blunder.

"But mommy knocked on the door, mommy wants to come in."

"Hey babies," I said carrying Lindsay. "what are you hiding from your mother?"

Isaac walked up to me, crossed his arms and had furrowed his eyebrows, and after a few seconds of contemplation, he tried pushing me out.
