Shivika's POV:
The Next day :
I went to Vihaan's hospital to collect Shivaay's reports. Without much thought, I headed straight into his cabin. He wasn't there, so I assumed he was busy in surgery. I asked one of the staff members to inform him while I waited in his cabin.
As I sat down, my eyes fell on a photo frame on his desk. It was a picture of a girl in her twenties hugging him from behind while he faced two people who seemed to be his parents. I didn't know who the girl was, but the sight of her standing so close to him made my chest tighten. For reasons I couldn't comprehend, I felt a pang of discomfort-jealousy, perhaps?
This was a first. I, Shivika, the cold-hearted mafia queen, felt bad seeing someone else with him. Why? Every time I saw Vihaan, something stirred within me. My bossy demeanor melted in his presence, and I found myself uncharacteristically quiet, agreeing to his every whim. What were these feelings?
I was still lost in my thoughts when the sound of the door opening snapped me back to reality.
"Yes, princess, we'll definitely go for an ice cream date today," Vihaan said into his phone, his voice warm and cheerful. Then, ending the call, he turned to face me.
"Oh, hi Shivika! Thank God you're on time. I was about to leave, and you'd have had to come back tomorrow for the reports," he said with his signature smile.
"It's alright, Doctor. Just give me the reports. I have a lot of work," I replied, my tone as cold as ever, though I felt far from composed.
Vihaan chuckled softly, unfazed by my demeanor. "Always straight to the point, aren't you? Here are the reports," he said, handing them to me. "By the way, you seem a little... distracted today. Everything okay?"
"I'm fine. Just busy," I responded curtly, avoiding his gaze.
"Fair enough," he said, his tone lighter. "Well, take care, Shivika. And don't overwork yourself."
I nodded briskly, clutching the reports tightly. "I'll see you around, Doctor," I said before turning on my heel and leaving the cabin, my heart heavier than when I had entered.
At Night :
I stood on my balcony, coffee in hand, replaying the day's events in my mind while gazing at the stars.
"What the hell, Shivi! Who did you hire for my team? That girl can barely walk without tripping, and you gave her the responsibility of handling confidential files?" Shivaay stormed into my room, then stepped onto the balcony where I was standing.
"Calm down, Shivaay. What happened?" I asked, trying not to laugh at the obvious frustration on his face.
He threw his hands up. "What happened? Seriously? That new intern you hired spilled an entire cup of coffee on me! She's beyond clumsy!"
