Mimi wasn’t someone who took rejection lightly, especially when it came to Jake. His refusal to entertain her advances only fueled her desire. She had joined the same college with the sole intention of being close to him, and no matter what, she was determined to make him hers.

Sitting in the cafeteria, she watched Jake from across the room as he joked with his classmates. A plan was brewing in her mind—a way to drive a wedge between him and Raya.

One afternoon, Mimi approached Jake during a break. She smiled warmly, trying to appear casual.

“Jake, can we talk?” she asked, clutching her books.

Jake hesitated but nodded. “Sure, what’s up?”

“I just wanted to apologize for that night at your birthday party,” she began, her voice soft. “I didn’t mean to make things awkward between us.”

Jake sighed, running a hand through his hair. “It’s fine, Mimi. Let’s just leave it in the past.”

Mimi nodded but looked down, pretending to be upset. “It’s just... I really thought we had something special. I was wrong, wasn’t I?”

Jake frowned, feeling uncomfortable. “Mimi, we’re just friends. I’m with Raya, and I’ve made that clear.”

Mimi smiled sadly. “I know, but... I just want you to be happy, Jake. That’s all.”

She walked away, leaving Jake confused by her sudden change of tone.

Later that evening, Mimi put her plan into motion. She sent a text to Raya from an anonymous number:

“Hey, do you know Jake has been spending a lot of time with another girl? Be careful, some people aren’t who they seem to be.”

Raya frowned as she read the message. Though she trusted Jake, a seed of doubt had been planted.

The next day, Mimi approached Jake in the library where she knew Raya wouldn’t be present. She brought a pile of books and sat close to him.

“I’m struggling with this assignment. Can you help me?” she asked sweetly.

Jake sighed but agreed, thinking it was harmless.

As they worked, Mimi leaned closer, touching his arm occasionally. A classmate walked by and snapped a photo of the two, which Mimi discreetly arranged to have sent to Raya through the anonymous number.

Raya was in the middle of her notes when her phone buzzed. The photo showed Jake and Mimi sitting close, her hand on his arm. Her chest tightened.

“Is this really what he’s been doing?” she whispered, feeling a pang of jealousy and hurt.

Later that day, Jake received a call from Raya. Her tone was cold, and she ended the conversation quickly, saying she needed space. Confused and concerned, Jake went straight to Mimi.

“What are you doing?” he asked sharply, cornering her near the library.

“What do you mean?” Mimi asked innocently.

“You’ve been trying to come between me and Raya. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to,” Jake said, his voice firm.

Mimi smirked. “Maybe if your relationship is so fragile, it’s not meant to be.”

Jake’s jaw tightened. “Stay away from me, Mimi. I’m done being nice.”

Mimi’s expression darkened. “We’ll see about that,” she muttered under her breath as Jake walked away.
