Shawn’s POVI arrived at Mr Roberts’ mansion.
I rang the doorbell. Mr Roberts opened the door. “Shawn,” he called out, looking at me with weary eyes.
“Good evening, Mr Roberts. I need to see Laura.”
He shook his head. “She left some minutes ago and I have no idea where she could be. She seemed sad and upset. I’m so worried about her.”
“Do not worry, uncle. I will find Laura and bring her back home.”
He stretched out his hand and tapped my shoulder. “Laura’s in your care. I trust you’ll take good care of her.”
“I will, sir.”
I got back into my car and called Laura’s line. It took nine rings before she answered my call. “Laura, where are you?”
“S-shawn, I-I’m fine,” she stuttered.
“Are you drunk?”
“N-no,” she laughed. “I-I just had two glasses of whisk…” her voice trailed off.
“I’m coming to get you, right now. Where are you?”
“Leave me alone,” I heard her say. “Don’t come near me.”
Was anyone forcing themselves on her?
“Laura, is there a problem?”
“A man is troubling—“
“Give me the phone, now, sweetie,” I heard the voice of a man. Who the hell was it?
“N-no,” Laura yelled.
I could hear background music. Was she in a clubhouse or something?
“Laura, where are you?” I didn’t get any response, instead the call ended. I tried calling her again but she didn’t pick up. She was in trouble. I needed to find her.
I drove to the nearest clubhouse I could find. There were dim lights and crowds everywhere. It was definitely going to be hard to find Laura. “Laura,” I screamed. “Laura.”
I walked up to the bar attendant. “Excuse me, have you seen a lady with hazel eyes, long hair—“
“I’ve seen a lot of girls. I can’t even remember what they look like. But if this is of any help to you, a man took a lady from here, some minutes ago.”
“Where did he take her to?”
“I swear, I have no goddamn idea. Now, leave me alone. I have people to attend to.”
“Thanks,” I said and began walking away.
Perhaps, I should check the rooms. I was walking towards the corridor, when I saw a woman come out of a room.
“Excuse me, do you work here?”
She looked down on the tray in her hand. “I bet if I didn’t work here, I wouldn’t have this tray in my hand and I wouldn’t be dressed in this shitty gown and I wouldn’t have to condone men drugging women’s drink and trying to rape them—“
I was about to walk away, when she said that. “The room you came out of, was there a man and a woman in it?”
“I have got out of three rooms and it’s just the same,” she snapped. “Alright, I have to get back to work or my boss will get mad.”
“Can you give me the room numbers of the room you came out of? And the name of your boss?”
“Room 102, 111 and 134. As for my boss’s name, Andrew Brandon.”
