Violet ran and ran, footsteps echoing down the halls.

She had to find a way out.

The halls seemed to go on and on. They seemed to grow longer, and it seemed like she was running in circles.

She didn't know if the Beast was following her; she was too panicked to think.

On and on she went. Why did the exit seem so far?

"Beauty!"

The beast.

She pushed herself even faster. She felt like she was going to throw up, but she didn't stop.

She went further.

She didn't know if it had been minutes or hours, but she had to escape.

There! Those were the giant double doors she'd entered in. She let out a quiet cry of relief.

She forced herself to go faster. She was nearly out!

"Beauty! BEAUTY!"

But just as she reached them, she felt the ground shift beneath her. She blinked, and suddenly she was looking down a different hallway.

"No, no, no," she cried. The beast had been right.

The castle wouldn't let her leave.

"Beauty!"

She still had to try, though. Footsteps pounded behind her.

"Beauty!"

He was right behind her.

She tried to go faster, but she knew that he would catch her. He was inhumanly fast, anyways, probably because he was a beast.

She cried out as arms latched around her waist. She was dragged to a stop roughly. She struggled against the beast, kicking and punching.

"Stop! Let me go! I won't be imprisoned here!" she screamed.

She continued to fight. She lashed out and her nails clawed at the beast's claws. They sunk in deeper into a fleshy part, and she felt something wet on her fingers.

His blood.

He didn't wince though. It was like it didn't even hurt for him.

"Beauty, stop! There's no use fighting! Stop!"

She was shaken roughly.

She blinked. She went limp in his arms, panting.

"If I let go of you, will you run again?"

She shook her head.

"Alright then."

She stumbled when he let her go. She didn't know how much she'd been leaning on him.

She looked up.

Was that pity in his eyes? It was gone too quickly for her to confirm it.

There were tears flowing down her cheeks, but she didn't wipe them away.

"Why me?" she cried. "Why?"

The beast just stared at her for a long while.

Minutes passed.

Finally, he said, "I'm willing to offer you a deal. You can choose whether or not you accept or decline. It's up to you."

She continued to watch him, showing she was listening.

"If you stay with me for 365 days and survive all the trials and hardships you will have to face, I will free you. But I can't guarantee that you will survive. If you take my offer, you will be gambling for your life. But also, your freedom. I'll give you a while to think about it. You can sleep on it, and then tell me what you think tomorrow."
