Well I wanted for Tris to have like a dark past or something that would make her more likely to Understand Tobias' pain. But I couldn't bring myself to make Nathalie and Andrew Prior a bad people so I decided to make Tris a foster child adopted by an "abusive" father.

This has brought a lot of controversy but I thought it would be a good thing. I always thought I was adopted until I saw my baby pictures :p so I tried to imagine what it was like and to reflect it on this fic.
