I sat in the common room staring a head at the tv but not actually watching what was on it. Lily, and another girl named Emily were sitting on another couch to my right talking.
"It sucks they didn't get to stay longer." Emily said while thumbing through a magazine. It had been almost a week since the Task Force had left and they were all everyone, or every woman, could talk about. Soap and Gaz were obviously among the favorites while everyone seemed ghost the scary, antisocial one. Everyone wanted to know why he wore the mask, but no one dared to ask.
"I can't wait for the mission! I hope I get to work under Captain Price so I can be with Soap." Lily yawned out. I chewed the inside of my lip while thinking about those brown eyes and smell of cedar on the muscular man. Ever since he walked out of this very room a few days ago I've tried my hardest to not think of him but fail every time.
We're only two days out from the mission and everyone has been on edge, making sure they're up to date on their techniques and what not. I've been focusing on my marksmanship and medical skills as much as I can to make sure Graves doesn't have anything to complain about.
Speaking of the asshole he hasn't bothered me much since the day I pinned him against the wall outside of the gym, only coming to talk when necessary but it doesn't stop me from seeing him shooting glares at me every now and then
"Alexis! Hey!" Lily is snapping her fingers and waving in front of my face. I blink up at her only vaguely hearing the conversation.
"Aren't you ready for the mission?" She questioned. I gave her a tight-lipped smile and nodded my head. I really need to get going to the med bay.
"You've been distant here recently, especially since those guys left. Are you good?" I nodded before standing. I have been good, but I just can't shake the thoughts of those men, especially ghost. I've thought about what he would be like if I met him outside of all of this.
The smell of Cedar wood and amber eyes haunt me every time I close my eyes or get a moment too long to myself. I constantly wonder what he looks like under the mask, what color his hair is or how he likes his coffee, or if he doesn't drink coffee at all. I shake my head slightly as I walk towards the door.
"I'll catch up with y'all later." I muttered while exiting without waiting for a response.
The infirmary is a bit of a walk but that gives me enough time to clear my head. I fall instep with a few other people who go off to do their own things for the day before turning into the large waiting area and over to the nurse's station.
"Hey, busy today?" I ask the nurse on shift, a woman named Kelly a few years older than me with dirty blonde hair, tan skin, freckles, and green eyes. I've shadowed under a few nurses but she's been one of my favorite. She's kind and the way she cares for people is truly something amazing.
"Not much but we've got a few from training today needing basic care if you'd like to help." She smiled at me. I nodded and followed her to a room where she watched me carefully wrap a soldiers ankle that he sprained. The next few hours went the same, just basic care here and there but nothing crazy.
I said my goodbyes as I walked out of the infirmary and back towards the dorms. The rest of the evening is mine so once I make it into my room, I shed off my uniform and take a quick shower before throwing on some sweats and an old shirt.
I plopped onto my bed and pulled out my phone before texting a few friends back and then scrolling through social media. I thought about calling my mom since I hadn't heard from her here recently but I decided against it.
I toss my phone to the side and lay back and close my eyes, debating on falling asleep or not before I hear my door and open and close. I lift my head to see Graves standing at the foot of my bed, staring at me.
