A few months after her trip, Cristina called a press conference.
"I have a personal announcement to make, one that may affect my work. There's a rumor going around that my husband is very short of virility. But I can now show off some evidence that he is actually very virile," she said with a smile.
"I'm pregnant."
"I may have to slow down, but I hope that I can continue doing my work. It looks like I'll be eating veggie milkshakes for a while."
Around then, it became big news that China was trying to acquire a lot of SSC technology from other countries, like Russia and Indonesia. Cristina and Kalna shared a chuckle over this news.
But if there was any country more reluctant to work with the SSC than China, it was North Korea, and China was unwilling to help out that nation. So North Korea became more and more isolated.
Some months later, Cristina gave birth to her child, a girl, and she and Mike named it Kalna Sally Martinez-Carson. "In honor of the great kindness and compassion that Kalna the Venusian showed me. Also to honor my dear husband's part in producing her."
