"Y/N is trying to steal you from me anyway," Lola said, her voice dripping with venom. Her words sliced through the cool night air, each one designed to sting.

Isagi didn't respond. His sharp blue eyes were still fixed on Y/N and Taro as they disappeared into the distance, her figure fading into the dark with her brother's steady steps.

Lola's frustration bubbled over. "Why would her brother defend her for that?!" she added, louder this time, practically shouting to regain his attention.

Still, Isagi didn't move.

"Did you even hear what I said?" she snapped, taking a step closer.

Nothing.

"Yoichi, let's go!" she demanded, crossing her arms, her tone sharp and impatient.

He remained rooted in place, his hands stuffed into his jacket pockets, his jaw clenched as he continued staring into the distance.

"Ugh, whatever. I'm going!" she huffed, spinning on her heel. She stormed off a few paces, then paused, glancing back over her shoulder. She expected him to chase after her, to call her name and apologize for zoning out—he always did before.

But not this time.

This time, he didn't even flinch.

Her lips curled into a scowl as the realization struck her like a slap to the face. 'He still has a crush on her. Even after all the lies I told him?' She let out an irritated growl before stomping away, her footsteps echoing loudly in the stillness of the night.

Isagi stood there long after Lola was gone. The sound of her retreating footsteps faded into silence, leaving only the soft rustle of leaves and the distant laughter of Taro and Y/N playing in his mind.

His chest felt heavy.

After a few moments, he exhaled sharply and turned on his heel, heading for the changing room. The familiar fluorescent lights hummed softly overhead as he pushed open the door. The other Blue Lock players were scattered around the room—some stretching, others talking loudly, a few scrolling on their phones.

"Yo, Isagi!" Bachira called out with a grin, waving from across the room. "You're late. You miss something fun?"

"Yeah, you okay?" Chigiri asked, raising an eyebrow as he tied back his hair. "You look... distracted."

Isagi didn't answer immediately. He walked over to his locker, pulling it open in a practiced motion, but his hands lingered on the metal door.

'Why didn't I say something?' he thought, the memory of Lola's words replaying in his head. He could still see the way Y/N had rested her head on Taro's shoulder, peaceful but distant. 'Did she hear all that? Does she think I agree with her? Does she think I... don't care?'

He clenched his fists, the cold metal of the locker pressing into his palms.

Finally, he pulled out his phone, leaned against the wall, and typed her name into the search bar.

Y/N [username]

Her profile appeared instantly. He hesitated for a moment, his thumb hovering over the screen, then pressed Follow.

The next morning, Y/N blinked awake as sunlight filtered into the room. But no amount of warmth from the sun could chase away the heaviness she felt.

Lola's words from the night before echoed in her mind, cutting deeper with each replay. She had known Lola didn't like her, but hearing such cruel things out loud... it was different. And worse, the disappointment she felt toward Isagi lingered.

'He didn't defend me,' she thought, swallowing the lump in her throat. 'Why does that still hurt so much?'

Her phone buzzed on the table beside her. She groaned, rolling over to grab it, not expecting much. But when her eyes landed on the notification, her heart skipped a beat.

Isagi Yoichi has started following you.

Her eyes widened as she stared at the screen. Her thumb brushed lightly over the notification as a hundred questions flooded her mind.

'Why...?' she whispered, her brows knitting together.

'Why would he follow me?'

For a brief moment, a faint flicker of happiness stirred in her chest. She tried to shove it down, reminding herself of reality. 'He's with Lola now,' she thought bitterly. 'This is probably just some kind of apology. Or guilt. Or worse, pity.'

Gritting her teeth, she opened Instagram and removed him from her follower list.

Ten minutes later, she was scrolling absentmindedly when the buzz came again.

Isagi Yoichi has started following you.

She froze.

Her heart thudded against her chest as she stared at the notification, her emotions swirling between frustration and confusion.

'Why does he keep doing this?' she thought, her fingers itching to remove him again.

Before she could act, a voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Well, look who's awake!"

She looked up to see Taro standing in the doorway, holding a small basket of strawberries with a grin plastered across his face.

"Oh, did you get those for me?" Y/N asked, her lips curving into a small smile.

Taro's grin widened mischievously. "Oh, you think so? That's cute."

Her eyes narrowed suspiciously. 'He's definitely up to something.'

"Taro—"

Before she could finish, Taro bolted out of the room, clutching the basket tightly. "Mom said these are for me!" he called over his shoulder as he disappeared.

"TARO!" she yelled, sitting upright, torn between chasing after him and staying put.

Her phone buzzed again.

Her breath caught in her throat.

Isagi Yoichi has started following you.

For a long moment, she just stared at her phone, her fingers trembling slightly.

'What do you want, Yoichi?' she thought, her chest tightening as she fought to push away the small flicker of hope blooming deep inside her.
