"Didn't sleep enough? Hmm?" Pei Yao asked softly.
As he spoke, he wrapped his arm around her waist, a faint smile on his face.
Fang Yun buried her head in Pei Yao's neck, gently shaking it.
"I slept enough, just a bit dizzy. Your Highness, please be kind and let me wake up properly."
Her voice was muffled, with a sleepy nasal tone, making her sound especially cute and endearing. The way she shook her head felt like she was nuzzling Pei Yao's neck, her soft hair tickling him.
Pei Yao felt like he was holding a playful kitten rather than a beautiful woman.
Instinctively, he began to gently pat Fang Yun's back, soothing her like a child.
After a while, Fang Yun smiled and lifted her head from his chest, raising her face to kiss his chin.
"Your Highness is so kind," she said sweetly.
"Alright, alright, get up. It's almost time for dinner!" Pei Yao said with a helpless smile.
But he couldn't help feeling a bit of sweetness in his heart.
Looking down at Fang Yun's smiling face, he wondered if her sweet smile was contagious.
Getting up and dressing took some time.
Seeing that it was already getting dark, Pei Yao decided not to return to the front courtyard study.
He stayed at Biluo Pavilion.
With some time before dinner, Fang Yun had the Second Young Lady brought in.
Since she was nominally her child, it was good to have her around Pei Yao more often.
They didn't eat much for dinner.
Having slept all afternoon, they weren't very hungry.
But Fang Yun didn't expect that after not exercising in the afternoon, they would be quite active in the evening, and for quite a while.
This time, they weren't tired but... hungry.
They hadn't eaten much for dinner!
Pei Yao, having exerted himself more, was also hungry.
So, after bathing and washing up, they had a late-night snack.
Honestly, they both felt a bit embarrassed.
After eating, they quickly washed up and went to bed.
Fang Yun, feeling shy, couldn't sleep. After a while, thinking Pei Yao was asleep, she carefully turned over, facing away from him.
This was quite disrespectful.
But she felt uneasy and lying this way made her feel better.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she turned, she felt a tightness around her waist, being pulled into his arms.
Her back pressed against Pei Yao's chest, and she trembled in surprise.
Just as she was about to speak, she heard Pei Yao's voice in her ear.
"Not sleeping yet? Wasn't it enough earlier?"
"I... I fell asleep."
Fang Yun bit her tongue, deciding to ignore it and immediately closed her eyes.
What else could she do? Answer whether it was enough?
Pei Yao, feeling her small movements, smiled slightly and said no more.
