As Fang Yun arrived, she saw Pei Yao and the Crown Princess talking together.

After greeting them, she noticed Pei Yao dressed in hunting attire, with arrows at his waist, looking especially vigorous.

"I've always heard of Your Highness's excellent riding and archery skills but never had the chance to see it. Today, I finally get to witness your prowess," Fang Yun teased.

Seeing Hong Zheng holding a bow and arrows behind Pei Yao, she smiled.

"Looks like we're in for a treat tonight. I've heard Luming Mountain has plenty of game."

"You only think about food. Do you know how to ride a horse?" Pei Yao raised an eyebrow.

Fang Yun arched her brow, taking a few steps closer to the Crown Princess, "I'm here to serve Her Highness, waiting for you to return triumphantly."

Pei Yao chuckled helplessly, turning to the Crown Princess, "Look at her. If she can't ride, she still tries to act cute in front of me."

The Crown Princess also smiled, "She's always been clever, but she's right. I'll be waiting here too."

In other words, neither of them could ride.

Pei Yao didn't press further.

They chatted for a while. The Crown Princess glanced around and said, "Where's Hu Liangdi? Has she forgotten the time? Minsi, go check."

Before sending someone, they saw a figure in a sapphire blue riding outfit approaching.

Looking closely, it was indeed Hu Liangdi.

Originally seen as having a cool demeanor, her outfit now gave her a touch of heroic charm.

Upon approaching, Hu Liangdi greeted them skillfully.

Pei Yao waved his hand, asking, "Do you know how to ride?"

"I've learned some riding and archery from my father and brother. Today is a rare chance, and I'd like to try. Maybe I'll get lucky and hunt a rabbit or pheasant," Hu Liangdi responded with a hint of girlish enthusiasm.

Pei Yao nodded, "It's rare for a girl to know these skills, but the hunting ground is vast. Don't stray too far; you might get lost. Stay nearby."

"Thank you for your concern, Your Highness. I'll be careful," Hu Liangdi replied softly.

Watching from the side, Fang Yun felt a bit envious.

For a girl to learn riding and archery, she must be dearly cherished by her family. After all, girls were still expected to focus on the four arts: zither, Go, calligraphy, and painting.

Soon, the hunt began.

With Emperor Chengjing shooting a deer to start, the hunters galloped off amid drumbeats and horns, filling the hunting grounds with excitement.

Most of the women stayed on the viewing stands, where Fang Yun chatted with the Crown Princess.

But the hunting ground was large, and soon no one was visible nearby. The sun's heat made it tedious.

After sitting for about half an hour, Empress Li got up and left.

With her departure, the others also left the stands, either to rest or take a walk nearby.

The Crown Princess was soon engaged in conversation with the Princess Consort Dun, allowing Fang Yun to excuse herself.

Before leaving, she glanced toward where the women of King Ming's faction were seated.
