The two strolled leisurely until they reached the pavilion.

Having walked a while on the mountain path, they were somewhat tired and warm.

After sitting down in the pavilion, the maids quickly set out the prepared tea, pastries, fruits, and snacks.

Each holding a cup of clear tea, they enjoyed the breeze mixed with pre-rain freshness, feeling quite comfortable.

"The chirping cicadas make the forest even quieter, and the birds' songs make the mountain more serene. Your Highness has an excellent choice. This place is tranquil and elegant, surrounded by greenery and accompanied by a spring and gentle breeze. It's truly a perfect spot for summer retreats and sightseeing, even surpassing Anlu Villa."

Fang Yun's brows arched gracefully, her lips curved in a gentle, warm smile, her face radiating a relaxed and contented air.

As she admired the scenery, she was, in Pei Yao's eyes, a picturesque sight herself.

Today, Fang Yun wore a simple yet elegant dark green cross-collared, waist-fitted long dress. Her jet-black hair was tied up with two white jade hairpins, her round earlobes adorned with a pair of teardrop-shaped pearl earrings, with no other accessories.

Her face was unadorned, with delicate eyebrows, clear, bright eyes, a face like a lotus, and lips like peach blossoms.

Holding a round fan, her fair wrist adorned with a white jade bracelet, she looked even more delicate and elegant, her skin like porcelain.

Amidst the green mountain scenery, she looked like a celestial being visiting the mortal world for a while.

"Your Highness?"

Not getting a response, Fang Yun withdrew her gaze from the pavilion's surroundings, looking at Pei Yao with slight puzzlement.

Pei Yao, just snapping back to reality, smiled and said warmly, "The faint mountains and distant waters are much more pleasant than the palace's red walls and green tiles. I arranged for this villa here because of its tranquility and the few people around. Whenever I came here before, I would invite Master Yinian to this pavilion for a chat."

"Then today, it is my good fortune to have taken the Master's place," Fang Yun said with a soft smile, her eyes clear, charming, and lively.

Pei Yao's smile deepened, "What taking someone else's place? I brought you here, so this place is yours."

"Then I thank Your Highness," Fang Yun said playfully, making a mock curtsy with her fan.

After a bit of casual chat and sufficient rest, Fang Yun expressed a desire to walk by the nearby pond.

Pei Yao had the pond specifically constructed to be filled with mountain spring water, perfect for playing and enjoyment.

Surrounded by a ring of flowers, whose origin she wasn't sure of, it all fit together perfectly.

Though Pei Yao hadn't finished his tea, he allowed her to go by herself.

Not feeling constrained, Fang Yun bowed and walked to the pond, supported by Qingrong.

As she approached, she saw a small fox by the pond, drinking water.

Surprised, Fang Yun was intrigued. It was her first time seeing a live fox. She slowed her pace, drawing nearer.

The fox, with keen ears, sensed her approach and backed away warily.

Man and fox, eyes wide in mutual scrutiny, neither moved rashly.

At this moment, Pei Yao also arrived, noticing the little fox. He asked, "Do you like it? Shall we take it back and let you keep it?"

"No...oh, don't be afraid!" Fang Yun softly exclaimed, trying not to scare the fox.
