The morning light filtered softly through the curtains, casting a warm glow across Sol's bedroom. Risha stirred, slowly waking up, feeling a deep sense of peace. Her body was curled slightly around Sol, but as her eyes fluttered open, she realized just how close they had been the night before. Her heart fluttered, but she tried to ignore the strange mix of emotions welling up inside her. Risha closed her eyes again and fell asleep for a while. Meanwhile, Sol got up and saw Risha beside her and was kind of happy.
Sol went to freshen up. Then, she was all up for making breakfast, humming softly to herself as she flipped pancakes. The sound of sizzling sausages and the clink of kitchenware filled the air.
"Good morning," Risha said, stretching as she walked into the room. Risha finally woke up.
Sol looked up from the stove, a surprised smile lighting up her face. "Oh, hey! You're awake! Took you long enough," she teased, though there was a hint of warmth in her voice.
Risha smiled back, running a hand through her disheveled hair. "I guess I needed the sleep." She walked over and sat down at the kitchen table, watching as Sol flipped a pancake with ease.
Sol turned to her, her face flushing slightly. "I hope I didn't, you know, do anything weird last night. I don't really remember much after you helped me to bed."
Risha's heart skipped a beat at the mention of last night, but she quickly calmed herself. She was grateful that Sol didn't remember everything. She could sense that Sol was embarrassed, though she'd done nothing wrong.
"No," Risha said with a soft smile. "Nothing wrong at all. You were just... a little tipsy. I stayed with you to make sure you were okay."
Sol's expression softened, and she set the spatula down before walking over to the table, sitting beside Risha. She looked at her carefully, her gaze searching Risha's face.
"I'm really sorry, Risha. I never meant to make you feel uncomfortable." Sol's voice was sincere, but there was also an undercurrent of something Risha couldn't quite place.
Risha smiled warmly, shaking her head. "Don't worry about it, Sol. You didn't do anything wrong. You needed someone, and I was there."
Sol stood up and was about move towards the kitchen to bring something. Suddenly, Risha reached over and pulled Sol into a tight hug.Sol was quite surprised. She stiffened at first, but then relaxed into it, the embrace lingering longer than either of them expected.
The warmth of the hug felt natural, but to Risha, it also felt like something more—a gentle pressure pushing her to admit to herself that perhaps her feelings for Sol were deeper than she'd realized.
Sol pulled back slightly, looking at Risha with a thoughtful expression. She opened her mouth to say something but hesitated. It was clear now that she could see the emotions Risha was hiding, but she said nothing. She just nodded and gently placed a hand on Risha's arm.
"I'm glad you're here," Sol said softly.
"Thanks Sol", Risha smiled.
Later, after breakfast, Sol drove Risha home. The sun was bright, and the streets were quiet, the hum of the city filling the air as they cruised through town. They didn't say much, but the silence was comfortable. Sol occasionally glanced over at Risha, her fingers tapping rhythmically on the steering wheel, as though lost in thought. However, the whole time, Risha was looking the other way through the side window.
When they finally reached Risha's apartment, she turned to Sol with a smile. "Thanks for everything today. I really appreciate it."
"No problem,Thank you for yesterday, Rish" Sol replied with a smile.
Risha nodded and got out of the car, but before she could walk to the door, she paused, looking back at Sol's car. For a moment, she just stood there, deep in thought. Her mind wasn't on the day or the events that had unfolded—it was on Sol. Something about their connection felt right, but at the same time, confusing. For a moment, Sol looked up to see if Risha went inside but as soon as her eyes met Risha's, she felt something else. Risha waved to Sol and Sol smiled. She went back.
As Risha walked inside, she leaned against the door, closing her eyes. She had always prided herself on keeping her emotions in check, but with Sol, she wasn't sure anymore.
Later that day, Risha received a message from Ashan. He was asking her out—something casual, a coffee at a nearby café. She had never considered him in the same way she considered Sol, but the invitation sparked something inside her. She didn't want to ignore it.
After a bit of hesitation, she agreed.
They met later that afternoon at the café, and Ashan was his usual charming self. He was easy to talk to, relaxed, and genuinely attentive. They spent the next couple of hours chatting about everything and nothing at all. But Risha could feel the pull, the connection growing between them. It was subtle, but it was there.
As they walked outside, the sun setting behind them, Ashan turned to her, his eyes serious for the first time that day. "Risha, I've wanted to tell you something for a while now," he said, his voice low.
Risha looked at him, her heart skipping a beat as she prepared herself for whatever was coming. "What is it?" she asked, her voice a little quieter than usual.
"I really like you, Risha," he said, his hand brushing against hers. "I don't know where this will go, but I'd like to see where it takes us."
Before she could respond, Ashan leaned in and kissed her gently. It wasn't rushed, but it was deep, and it made Risha's heart flutter in a way she didn't expect.
When they pulled away, Risha stood frozen for a moment, her mind spinning. The kiss had felt natural, but also confusing. She felt the same pull toward Ashan that she had with Sol, and now she was caught between them, unsure of what to do next.
As Ashan walked her back to her apartment, Risha couldn't help but think about what had just happened. She had been kissed by Ashan, but her mind kept drifting back to Sol. Was she leading both of them on? Did she even know what she wanted anymore? And why did Sol stop when she was looking at Risha's lips?
As she lay in bed that night, Risha could only think about how tangled her emotions had become—and how much more complicated things were about to get.
