Eventually it was time to go. Sukuna slung a backpack over one shoulder, your luggage and a duffle bag over the other. He began heading off to the helicopter, adjusting the bags, and looked back to see you still on the porch. "Let's go princess" his hand waved to follow.
"Okay," you replied quietly. Your shoulders dropped as your feet took baby steps toward him, your head low until the spinning helicopter blades drew your gaze upward, signaling that time was nearly at its end. Your heartbeat increased, eyes glistened at the realization.
You could hear the noise in the distance as the large helicopter blades spun.
He guided and helped you into the helicopter, placing a gentle hand on the small of your back, ensuring you don't hurt yourself getting into the helicopter. The bags get tossed into an empty seat.
Sukuna buckled you up, then sat beside you doing the same. He pounded his fist twice on the wall to the pilot, gesturing that everything and everyone was accounted for and it was time. The engines and blades roar louder, as the helicopter began to make its ascension into the skies.
Sukuna put headphones over your head and his which allowed the noise to be blocked out but also for you to talk over the headset to each other.
"Y/N."
His voice was distant and quiet. Your ears become more receptive, able to hear the quiet and distant call of his voice.
"Hmm," You glance up at him with a small smile, his handsome face brightens, the corner of his lips curl into a smirk.
You could feel it...an indescribable feeling deep within you, turn into something immensely warm.
The ache of parting started to fade, replaced by the flutter of a million butterflies swirling inside you as you met his eyes. It had you feeling both giddy and grounded, making your cheeks flush softly.
His grin widened with a knowing look.
Everything had changed. Your heart felt complete—all because of him.
He reached over, adjusting the volume on your headset. His fingers lingered, brushing away a tear you hadn't realized had fallen. "No crying, princess," he murmured, his voice soft yet firm. "This isn't our last day." His hand found yours, the warmth of his touch grounding you, tethering you to the promise of something more.
You nodded, a faint smile breaking through your sadness as he pulled you into a tight, wordless hug. He simply held you close. His presence gave you courage, his mere existence made you feel less sad—like he made the whole world make sense.
Being with him felt timeless, as though you'd known him forever.
A soft blush covered your face, as Sukuna watched. It seems he couldn't get enough of your reactions, especially your cute and shy, flustered responses. He seemed so proud to be the cause.
The close and intimate embrace left you both at peace, quietly listening to the whirring of the helicopter.
As you flew, the safe house shrank into the distance, becoming a dot in the landscape. But the memories of laughter, bickering, whispered promises, and lingering touches stayed vivid, etched in a place that changed your life.
You rested against his chest, his steady breathing soothing you. It felt natural, as if it was meant to be.
Sukuna glanced out the window, resting his head back against the seat and a slight smile spread across his face.
"You came a long way from calling me tattoo man huh? Seems like not so long ago..that we were both at each other throats and couldn't stand each other." His smirk grew. Looking at you, he squeezes your hand tighter, a gesture you couldn't miss. It meant so much.
