"This isn't over"
Gabriela's journey from Colombia to Barcelona was anything but comfortable. She had hoped to be seated near her team, but instead, she found herself at the back of the plane, sandwiched between two strangers. The air was thick with the hum of the engines and the murmurs of passengers, and Gabriela couldn't help but feel a bit claustrophobic.
"Why do these things always happen to me?" she thought to herself, glancing at the strangers on either side of her. The man to her left was engrossed in a thick novel, while the woman to her right was already fast asleep, her head lolling slightly toward Gabriela's shoulder.
As the plane took off, Gabriela tried to distract herself by looking out the window. The sprawling landscape of Colombia quickly faded into a blanket of clouds. She closed her eyes and imagined herself already in Barcelona, walking through the vibrant streets and soaking in the culture. "Soon I'll be there," she reassured herself
The hours seemed to drag on endlessly. Every time Gabriela shifted in her seat, she bumped into one of her neighbors, eliciting annoyed glances. "Lo siento," she murmured apologetically each time. She tried to find a comfortable position, but it was no use. The cramped space and the constant jostling made it impossible to relax.
Finally, the captain announced their descent into Barcelona. Gabriela felt a wave of relief wash over her. "Finally!" she thought, her spirits lifting. As the plane touched down, she couldn't wait to disembark and reunite with her team. Despite the discomfort of the journey, she knew that the vibrant city of Barcelona awaited her, and that made everything worthwhile.
As the plane came to a stop, Gabriela couldn't wait to get out of her seat. She grabbed her bag with a flourish, tossing her hair back as she moved towards the exit. "Finally, I thought this flight would never end," she muttered under her breath, rolling her eyes dramatically. She strutted down the aisle, her heels clicking with confidence, making sure everyone noticed her departure.
Soon enough she had met up with her team, and they all made their way to the hotel they were all staying in. It was all paid for by the hosts, it was a big modern hotel, it would definitely cost a lot of money if you'd purchase it by yourself. However luckily for them, it was free. Well kind of free.
Gabriela took a deep breath and stepped away from her team, the decision weighing heavily on her shoulders. She couldn't stay with them any longer; the tension had become unbearable, she wasn't sat with them on the plane, so she had no idea why they kept arguing. But it pissed her off. As she walked towards the hotel reception, she felt a mix of relief and apprehension. The lobby was bustling with activity, but she was focused on one thing: getting a room and some much-needed solitude.
Approaching the receptionist, Gabriela put on her most confident smile. "Hola, necesito una habitación, por favor hello i need a room please," she said, her voice steady. The receptionist, a young woman with a friendly demeanor, responded in broken Spanish, clearly struggling with the language. Gabriela couldn't help but smirk inwardly at the attempt. "Un momento, por favor one moment please," the receptionist said, fumbling with the computer. The girl saw a sign, so flashing her gi that was in her duffel bag, the lady nodded - to prove she was affiliated with a dojo.
