"TKO"
Gabriela woke up to the soft sound of the alarm ringing at 4 a.m., the world outside still cloaked in darkness. She felt a surge of excitement as she swung her legs over the side of the bed, the cool air brushing against her skin. Today was a new day, and she was determined to make the most of it. The hotel room was quiet, save for the faint hum of the air conditioning, and she relished the peacefulness that came with the early hour. With a quick glance at the clock, she realized she had to hurry if she wanted to fit in her run before training.
After slipping on her favorite running shoes, Gabriela grabbed a light jacket, not wanting to feel the chill of the morning air. In her rush, she forgot her phone on the bedside table, but she shrugged it off; this was her time to disconnect and focus on her run. As she stepped outside, the crispness of the morning enveloped her, invigorating her senses. The streets were still quiet, with only the distant sound of a few cars and the rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze.
With each step, Gabriela felt her heart rate increase, and she settled into a comfortable rhythm. The pavement felt familiar beneath her feet, and she loved the solitude of the early morning. The world was hers at this moment, a canvas waiting to be painted with her determination and strength. She breathed in the fresh air, feeling it fill her lungs and energize her body. As she passed by streetlamps that flickered to life, she couldn't help but smile at the beauty of the stillness around her.
As she reached the halfway point of her three-mile run, Gabriela felt a rush of adrenaline. The familiar route had become a comforting routine, and she relished the challenge of pushing herself a little harder each time. The rhythm of her feet hitting the ground was like a heartbeat, a reminder of her dedication to her training. She thought about the upcoming kickboxing session and how every step she took now was a step toward her goals. They were told they were mixing martial arts today. They were told they had to work on aggression.
Gabriela knew she didn't need to learn aggression, when she was on the mat she was confident, maybe even to confident - but she was good. She got knockouts like she got cold - all the time. But it wasn't always like that for the rest of her team, maria for example, was all defence - so the kick-boxing sessions were a good way to get the aggression out of the girl.
Finally, after what felt like both an eternity and just a moment, Gabriela completed her three miles. She slowed her pace, feeling a sense of accomplishment wash over her. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a soft glow over the horizon. She turned back toward the hotel, her mind buzzing with thoughts of the day ahead. As she jogged back, she reflected on how running brought her clarity and focus, a moment to gather her thoughts before the hustle of the day began.
Arriving back at the hotel, Gabriela pushed open the door, feeling the warmth of the lobby envelop her. The air was filled with the smell of fresh coffee, and she could hear the faint chatter of early risers. She quickly made her way to her room, eager to shower and start her day. The cool tiles of the bathroom felt refreshing against her skin as she washed away the sweat from her run, feeling invigorated and alive.
