"Ishan? Tum yaha?"
Aakanksha's voice broke through the quiet atmosphere of the hospital, as she spotted her old friend walking towards the entrance. The dimly lit hospital corridor, filled with the soft hum of machines and faint voices, contrasted sharply with the world outside—one that seemed to be moving, while here, in the stillness of the sterile white walls, time seemed to stand still.
Ishan's broad, muscular figure emerged from the shadows, his grey suit fitting him perfectly, emphasizing his tall and strong frame. He was always well-dressed, his presence commanding attention even in the most unremarkable settings.
As his gaze met hers, a warm, reassuring smile spread across his face, and the dimples in his cheeks deepened, giving him a boyish charm that seemed out of place in the otherwise somber atmosphere of the hospital.
"It's been a week, Aakanksha. She's here."
Aakanksha nodded, her face tense with worry as her eyes quickly darted to her phone screen. Her fingers tapped nervously on the device as she checked for any new updates.
The weight of the past week had drained her—managing the chaos left behind by Ritvika's accident, handling the underworld business, and trying to keep it all together for her friend. But her concern for Ritvika outweighed everything else.
"You have your whole company to handle, but still, you visit here daily. Why?"
Aakanksha asked, her voice tinged with exhaustion, yet laced with curiosity. She couldn't help but wonder how Ishan managed it all—his business, his life, and yet he still found the time to show up at the hospital every single day.
Ishan's smile remained, a gentle, reassuring presence that seemed to ground her in the chaos.
"If you need any help, ask me. I'll help you with whatever I can,"
he said softly, walking alongside Aakanksha as they made their way toward the room where Ritvika lay, still unconscious. His words were always a comfort, but Aakanksha knew, deep down, that no one could truly take the weight of what they were all carrying. It was a burden only she, Daksh, Rishabh, and their closest circle could bear.
"I'm already taking care of things. You don't have to worry about the company or anything else,"
Aakanksha replied, giving him a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. Her tiredness showed in the slump of her shoulders, the dark circles under her eyes. She had been juggling too much for too long.
As they reached the hallway leading to Ritvika's room, they saw Daksh and Rishabh sitting quietly on a bench, their eyes heavy with exhaustion. Aakanksha could tell that they had been here for hours, watching over her, praying for her to wake up. The sight of them brought a pang to her heart. They, too, were carrying this burden in silence.
