Night blanketed the haveli in a serene silence, broken only by the occasional chirp of crickets and the rustle of the cool breeze through the trees. The echoes of the day's celebrations had faded, leaving behind a calm that enveloped the mansion. Most of the family members were fast asleep, resting after the long day. But not everyone was lost in slumber.
Shourya stood at the balcony of his room, his tall figure silhouetted against the dim moonlight. His sharp features were softened under the pale glow, yet his eyes held a hint of restlessness. Sleep evaded him, as it often did, and he found solace in the quiet of the night.
Meanwhile, in another part of the haveli, Reyansh moved silently through the hallway, careful not to make a sound. His footsteps were deliberate, his demeanor focused. He reached Aakanksha's room and knocked softly. Within moments, the door creaked open, revealing Aakanksha, her expression a mix of curiosity and confusion.
"Ready?"
Reyansh asked, his tone low but excited.
Aakanksha nodded, still puzzled.
"Yeah, but where are we going at this hour?"
Reyansh's lips curved into a faint smile.
"You'll see."
They tiptoed their way out of the haveli, careful not to wake anyone. Soon, they were on the road, the headlights of Reyansh's car cutting through the darkness. The drive was quiet, the only sounds were the gentle hum of the engine and the occasional sigh of the wind. Aakanksha's curiosity grew with every passing minute, but she trusted Reyansh enough not to question further.
When they arrived, Reyansh parked the car and stepped out, gesturing for Aakanksha to follow. As her feet hit the ground, her eyes widened in surprise and delight. The view before her was breathtaking—the Ambrai Ghat bathed in moonlight, its gentle ripples shimmering like a thousand silver stars.
Reyansh took her hand and guided her further toward the edge of the ghat.
"Papa told me you used to come here with him every weekend,"
he said softly, glancing at her.
Aakanksha's eyes glistened as memories came flooding back. She looked at him and smiled, her grip on his hand tightening. They walked in silence, taking in the beauty of the moment and each other's presence, their bond deepening in the shared tranquility of the night.
