The orange rays that provocatively avoided the long white curtains illuminated Rhaenyra as if she were the most important being in the universe.
And maybe she was.
"You look troubled." declared with a gentle smile the person who watched her from the balcony, gracefully leaning against the highest pillar. Her curves seemed to be trying to win over the cunning sun.
When Rhaenyra didn't say the reason for her melancholic mood even after this remark, Daella spoke up again.
"I think you left your good spirit in the chambers of The Small Council."
Finally, after this joke of Daella's, the older sister spoke up.
"The wild pirates seem to want to claim Stepstones back and nobody seems bothered by it." she exhaled as her right hand reached for a marble jug full of sweet Dornish Red wine.
The younger Princess looked up at the milky sky, her thoughts focused on this problem.
It was one of the few council meetings that she didn't have time to listen to from the back of her secret nest.
In fact, that was the only reason why she was enjoying wine with Rhaenyra at this moment, to get ahead of what she didn't have time to hear with her own ears, to be the first person with an idea of how to get back the land that Daemon had conquered almost ten years ago.
"Do you want to hear my opinion on this matter?" she asked carefully. Rhaenyra looked around, unfocused.
"I doubt it would make a difference if I said either answer to your question."
Daella smiled innocently at this statement.
"The council should act now, there shouldn't be any hesitation or taking it as a small deal. If the pirates retake the Steptones, there will be no avail of supplies from The East."
"Yeah no way, Daella!" Rhaenyra answered slightly annoyed.
"Take it into your own hands. Act alone if the council can't." Daella claimed.
The older sister stood up, walked around in silence, like a ghosts, and sat down again.
Daella was watching her every move, her every expression.
She knew she would give her an hysterical answer. That's who Rhaenyra was in such situations.
Quick to anger, yet hesitating.

"You think I myself have a power to stop such a group of-terrorists?""I wouldn't consider such thing if I didn't think of you as a strong person, Rhaenyra

"You think I myself have a power to stop such a group of-terrorists?"
"I wouldn't consider such thing if I didn't think of you as a strong person, Rhaenyra. If I had the power you hold as the heir, as the firstborn of The King, I wouldn't hesitate to take it into my hands." Daella walked to her and continued, "-you should send an army in father's name before it will be impossible to fight them off."
"Who should I send, Daella? Men who were never in war, men who are afraid of stonemen just like we are?"
She hesitated, for sure.
Rhaenyra was the heir, and with that, she couldn't risk things like Daella did.
She was more vulnerable because she held more power than Daella.
Because had more to loose.
"Your father in law has the most fearless men the realm can find. Write him, sister. Let him go fight against the enemy that is no stranger to him."
"Hundreds of men died at the Battle of Stepsones years ago.."
"And their memory will not be forgotten. But-we must act for the good of the realm. Father knows this-you know this, Rhaenyra. It sounds cruel yes, but sacrifices must be made." The younger Princess said without any filter.
Rhaenyra looked around nervously, as if something convinced her that her sister was telling the truth.
"I won't be here much longer, sister. My days in this castle are numbered, and believe me, I don't want to leave before this is resolved. Write to Lord Corlys, before I will." Daella proclaimed, trying to help
her. "-I will leave you with your thoughts. Besides, I must write to Candace. She gave birth to a baby boy and I haven't had time to write her back."
The news about Candace's little son made her walk to her own newborn as well. Daella found herself at her son, at Gwayne's son, just right after she left Rhaenyra's warm chambers.
The little boy was sleeping in his tiny bed when she entered his room, quietly breathing in and out in peace.
It was the first time she spent more than just two glances at him.
He was all like his father.
'Was that how Gwayne looked when he was an infant?' she asked herself.
His little fingers gripped the blue blanket that kept him warm, while his legs slowly moved under it.
She hasn't held him since his birth, she didn't have the courage to hold him.
Something held her back, some barrier that they had between each other.
What would her mother think of her if she saw her disgust towards her own child?
Would she be mad or would she understand her?
Her deep thoughts made her not hear the opening of the huge doors behind her slim figure.
"Hello there."
Daella turned quickly.
The two hadn't spoken in almost a week. "I-I was about to leave." she whispered, trying not to wake Laurus.
"Oh."
Daella looked at him as she found sadness in his eyes.
Gwayne followed her gaze as his body approached the small bed of their child.
"I have to go now-"
But Gwayne's reflexes were quicker. The knight managed to catch her by the left forearm.
"Stay, Daella-" his eyes begged.
She was nervous. She was nervous in his presence for the first time.
Daella took a small step back but said nothing.
"It was stupid of me to ask you for the things I said the last time we spoke. It hasn't been long since the birth. I apologize for every word." he lowered his voice.
She could hear his heart pounding nearby.
'Brave of you.' she thought, looking at his expression and body language.
Daella slightly nodded in response. The next thing she felt was his warm closeness and his soft kiss on her forehead.
"It's almost time to leave Kings Landing. We're going home. To Old Town." came out of her sweet mouth. Gwayne quickly understood the meaning of her words. He immediately moved away from her and looked at her face in dumb astonishment.
It was surprising to hear such a statement after her refuse to leave the capital for moons.
"Yes. Yes, we will go."
She hated her dreams for forcing her to go to that vile city, but if it meant getting an answer to her visions, she had to sacrifice herself and her love for her home.
Even though The Red Keep was not her home.
Rhaenyra was.
And the man that moved to Essos a long time ago.
