Serena had always loved hiking in the fall. There was something about the crisp air and the way the trees painted the landscape in vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows that soothed her restless mind. But today was different. Today, the colors felt richer, deeper, almost as if they were hiding something. She had been grieving the recent loss of her grandmother, and the weight of it all seemed to hang around her neck like an invisible shackle. It was supposed to be a way to clear her mind, but the sadness was too strong.

"Serena, you sure you're okay?" her boyfriend, Troy, asked, glancing over his shoulder at her. His voice was filled with concern, his hand reaching out to gently brush against hers.

"I'm fine," Serena replied, offering him a small smile. "I just... I need to clear my head."

Beside him, his best friend Daniel grinned, his usual carefree attitude shining through. "This place is amazing. It's like something straight out of a fairy tale," he said, his voice filled with awe as they ventured deeper into the woods.

Maddie, Serena's best friend, rolled her eyes but smiled anyway. "You really are a sucker for anything magical, aren't you?" she teased. "We're probably going to find a bunch of mushroom circles or witches in the woods, Daniel."

"Well, if they're good witches, I wouldn't mind," Daniel replied with a wink, his tone playful.

Serena's attention shifted away from her friends as something caught her eye. There was a faint glow up ahead, an otherworldly light filtering through the trees like a beacon. She felt an unexplainable pull, an irresistible force that beckoned her forward.

"Hey, guys, do you see that?" Serena asked, her voice tentative.

The others stopped and turned, looking in the direction she was pointing. "What is that?" Maddie asked, her tone cautious.

"I don't know," Troy said, squinting into the distance. "It's... glowing."

Curiosity got the better of them, and they began walking toward the light. The deeper they went into the woods, the more the atmosphere seemed to shift. The air grew cooler, and the trees, though beautiful, took on an almost eerie, twisted appearance. The path they were on felt too perfectly carved, as if it had been waiting for them.

After a few minutes of walking, they emerged into a clearing. The glow grew brighter, and what lay before them made Serena's breath catch in her throat.

It was an open-air market—unlike anything she had ever seen. Stalls filled with strange, magical items lined the area: glowing bottles, crystals that seemed to pulse with light, and mirrors that reflected not just their faces but hidden parts of them. The scent of cinnamon and cloves filled the air, mingling with something more mysterious, something she couldn't quite place.

"Whoa," Daniel said, his voice filled with awe. "This is unreal."

Maddie stepped forward, skeptical as ever. "This... this isn't real," she muttered. "We're probably just hallucinating or something."

Troy's eyes scanned the market. "I don't know, Maddie. It feels... real. Too real."

A figure emerged from one of the stalls. She was tall and slender, with pale skin and long black hair that seemed to shimmer in the dim light. She wore an intricate gown of deep burgundy, her dark eyes observing them with quiet intensity.
