At a big social event, Sunghoon and Wonyoung are seated directly opposite each other, causing a lot of media buzz amidst their most recent Jang x Park business competition of competing share prices. But for Sunghoon and Wonyoung, it was just the start to something new. They knew each other, of course, but not on good terms.
SH **Wonyoung was seated right in front of me. She was Jang's most precious princess, and apparently, according to the media, my biggest competitor. Yet all of these years, we've never really had any hard feelings towards one another, I never really knew her that well.
WY **Sunghoon had a sip of his wine, of course it caught my attention-- well, because he was sitting right in front of me, and he was named to be the Prince of Monopolies. Growing up, it was my family's biggest dream to overtake the Park Capital. Though for me, I believed in understanding my opponent more before planning any bigger actions.
WY: Hi, Sunghoon. I heard the Park's recently gained yet another 3% of shares? Don't be too confident though, the Jang's will be right up on the leaderboard in no time. *winks*
WY ** If we weren't going to be able to overtake them for many years, I figured getting close on personal terms would be a new tactic. He seemed nice, anyway.
SH: I'm not sure if you know, but I'm rarely the one who is actually checking on those statistics. I am here today just as an attendee, to enjoy myself. I know there must be media at the corners checking up on us, so just keep it neutral. No hard or expressive feelings to stir up unnecessary conflict on the headliners.
WY: Okay, I agree. Since we are both here unwillingly on business terms, how about we get to know each other better? That wouldn't hurt, would it? Maybe we could both be of help and of new innovative ideas in the future.
They both stepped to the side near the DJ booth, where the media was not allowed in. The interaction was as 2 young adults who could relate to each other, agreeing to remove any social identities they had to live by on any other day. Tonight, they would be just Sunghoon and Wonyoung, not Prince Park and Princess Jang of their heated family businesses.
WY: How about, we start with a drinking game? It's the best to break the ice in korean tradition.
SH: Sounds good. Don't be intimidated by my amazing skills though. Get ready to be drinking
As the night progressed, they both had their fair shares of shots. It was a new and rare experience for both of them to be letting loose since usually they would have an uptight front to be keeping for the perfect formula of networking.
SH: I know a place, if you want to continue chatting. I admit, it's quite rare to be free like that, talking openly together.
WY: Really? I guess as the faces of the 2 leading companies of Seoul, we really don't get that many chances to chat. Sure, let's head out.
Sunghoon brought Wonyoung to the private club he bought and owned just recently, a space for him and only himself to relax and let go of his burdens. Till now, he had not even brought any friends to this place, but Wonyoung went through the same experiences as him, probably understanding of the ways he viewed the world too.
WY: Wow, this place is really well done up. Since you brought me here, I have to admit that I also have an underground fashion studio for me to relax after a long day of work too. Thanks for bringing me here, Sunghoon.
SH: We can stay here for awhile and talk for a bit more, then I'll send you home, so my driver doesn't suspect anything happened between us which would probably get notified to my parents..
WY: It's so hard to work around such tight measures, especially during childhood. Growing up, did you also get sent to the Elegance Camp? I mean, it might have just been me since I used to whine all day about having to keep a poised face.
SH: Elegance Camp? Yes! I got sent there Summer of 2008. Subsequently in 2009, I became a child model. I guess all that training got me somewhere.. at least I achieved modelling instead of wasting the months of training. *chuckles*
WY: Oh my goodness! I was also there in 2008. You might've been in my group even!-
SH: Sit still ..-
WY: ..look pretty! Yes! That was the slogan we came up with as a group of 5 year olds. Back then the Park x Jang competition wasn't started yet, our families must not have noticed the connections between us from years ago.
SH: Right. phone rings Well, that must be my mother. Always chasing after me though I'm already at a legal age to be taking care of myself.
WY: It's okay. Take it, I get it too.
Sunghoon takes the phone call from his mother, while Wonyoung went to the bathroom. Considering this place was built and designed entirely by Sunghoon, it was a well picked choice in design. He had good taste.
SH: My mother wants me to be home to sign some urgent documents in the next hour. I'm really sorry, can we pack it up and I'll send you home soon? It was really great talking with you, we should do this again sometime, for sure.
WY: For sure. Before we go, can we get a quick picture though? It's just for myself. I like keeping memories in my journal especially since I don't have anyone to be completely truthful with.
SH: Of course, and here's my phone number for next time. And my private username on SNS, I'm assuming you have one too, right? *smiles*
