Heading my sleep deprived ass to work on a freezing winter morning at 7 am could sound overwhelmingly daunting. I had to battle my way to the library while the wind howled and the snow viciously hit my face.
I knew snowflakes would never hurt, they were tiny little snowflakes soft as silk, millions of snowflakes rushing down to hit my face during a snowstorm - I was officially blind.
Stormy wind wasn't any endearing either, it kept pushing me back, I worked hard to keep my balance as I fought to stride forward. It felt like someone continuously held me back, pushing me away from the land where I didn't belong.
Almost there to the library, I took a hold of a door link. I sighed in relief when the door opened, Fianna must be early, she loved being an early bird. I usually loved to be a bit late because who wouldn't love to sleep until the last minute?
At least I made it!
I exhaled deeply as the door flung closed behind me, the warmth of the room packing me in, the ring of the bell let Fianna know that I've finally arrived.
About to take off my gloves, she followed to the sound of the ring, her face lightened up as realization fell on her face.
"Oh you finally made it, I thought the snowstorm K.O'd you!" she let out a heartfelt laugh.
"Too bad, I K.O'd the snowstorm instead" I huffed a laugh as I put my coat away along with my gloves.
"You must be cold, wanna get some coffee?" Fianna asked, her face radiating warmth like a ray of sunshine.
"I would love to, thanks." I smiled heading towards our office desks.
"I was actually waiting for you, I can't wait to get my own coffee of the morning as well" She danced her way towards the restroom to make some coffee, singing a christmas song as she went.
I sat down on my office chair, I sank into the chair with my back and I closed my eyes taking in the quiet atmosphere in this room. Starting my morning with a chaotic storm only made my blood boil the first thing in the morning.
Not gonna lie, snow is great, beautiful even. I couldn't stand it at most times. I hated cold weathers and I hated the slippery coming along with the snow. The fun activities with the snow didn't ignite any excitement within me either, whenever I spotted a snow fight somewhere I always made sure to stay away from the area or go past them in a circle.
When snow hit your face, then it hurt you with biting cold, it burned. Snow wasn't all innocent after all, you couldn't basically compare them with tiny little snowflakes.
Maybe I was turning into my parents.
"Coffee is here!" Fianna's singing voice jolted me awake from my thoughts. I held my back straight ready to accept my coffee.
"There you go." She smiled as she passed me my coffee.
"Thank you!" I smile as I took a hold of my coffee, the earthy warmth of the mug, which supposed to be hotter than usual, felt immensely comforting between my ice-cold hands.
I gently blew on my coffee before I took a small careful sip from it. Bitter liquid hit my tongue, the richness of this taste ever-lastingly strong.
Fianna came back into the room with her coffee in her arms, she took a seat behind my desk as she took her first sips from the mug. She let out a deep sigh afterward.
"Lately it feels so tiring to make it to work because of the darkness outside, sometimes I wish I could sleep a day off." She started to ramble from the bottom of her heart, I listened to her intently while I sipped my cup of coffee.
