Chapter 9

Dear Diary,

Michael told me a bit more about his family today. He has a brother called Mitchell but they were both abandoned a few years ago and have been been surviving on the streets ever since. I don't know why Mitchell's not here too, but I decided not to push - he'll talk about it if he wants to.

I helped Chiara in the greenhouse earlier, she let me plant some Water Hemlock. It's so pretty, it's a shame it's poisonous. Hemlock is the poison that the people of Athens used to kill Socrates after giving him the death sentence, Chiara taught me that while we were planting. I love learning history, and all the plants Chiara grows are really interesting too. Most of them are poisonous or deadly and we always have some ready to use in case of an emergency.

Chiara hasn't dyed her hair in a while, so some of it is blond, and it's so pretty in the sun. Usually she dyes her hair every few weeks but she's been really busy the past few months so she hasn't been able to. She says she dyes her hair so that it blends in better with the dirt and so her hair doesn't look dirty all the time from planting and missions, which is a shame because I bet she looks really good with her hair all blond.

She said maybe we can dye my hair when I'm older, but that would require bleaching my hair so we should wait a few years. I wish I could dye my hair, I'd do it red or orange Lil Robin's. Robin doesn't dye their hair, but it's a really nice color. Lily's black hair is nice too, but I prefer lighter colors.

Lily's really good at doing hairstyles, but she always keeps at least some of it down. Sometimes she just has two bits framing her face but sometimes she has it all down. I wish my hair always looked as good as hers, mine is just normal and boring all the time. I'm pretty sure she uses the Mist to make her hair look better.
