"Can I ask you a question?" Charles asked, the two of them walking side by side as they slowly made their way through the paddock in the direction of his car.

It had been really slow going, mostly because he was constantly being stopped and interrupted by fans wanting an autograph or a photo, but also because Laura had no real idea where she was going and had wandered in the wrong direction a few times.

"I don't know, can you?" She smirked, raising an eyebrow at him.

He laughed quietly, pointing towards the exit as she almost took another wrong turn. "If I take you back to the yacht again, are you going to run away from me?"

She laughed, unable to hold it back. From the look on his face he wasn't joking either, the question was one hundred percent serious. "That's your question?"

He nodded. "Every time I take you there you end up running away from me. I'm starting to think it might be cursed. I'd take you back to my place but my family have all invaded it for the weekend and I really don't think you want to run the risk of meeting all of them at once. Not just yet, anyway."

Laura's head was spinning at his choice of words. Not just yet? Did that mean that there was some kind of universe existing in his head where he thought he was going to introduce her to his family? How had they gone from a drunken one night stand after meeting in a club to.... Whatever this was? Her brain couldn't keep up.

"You look like you're seriously considering running away again." He joked, hand reaching out to take hers in his own. It was a reflex reaction as their hands brushed against eachother, but one that had the added bonus of stopping her from actually running away.

"You don't need to hold on to me." She laughed. "I'm not actually going to run away. I was just thinking, that's all."

"About?" He asked curiously.

"Not about how to run away from you, if that's what you're worried about." She offered, because she wasn't about to tell him what she'd actually been thinking about. "We can go there, if you like. I promise I won't run away this time. Not unless you say something really, really weird at least."

He laughed, shaking his head in an amused way as the two of them arrived at the familiar looking black Ferrari. "Alright, get in then. I'll keep my mouth shut, I promise."

"Then we have a deal." She agreed, watching as he opened the car door for her so that she could climb inside. He reappeared a few seconds later, settling himself into the drivers seat and starting the engine, the car rumbling to life.

"Are you going to come back and watch again tomorrow?" He asked hopefully, the car crawling along the street in the heavy traffic leaving the circuit.

"Yeah, there's no way that Anna is going to let me miss it." Laura told him, hiding her face in her hands as she realised that all eyes were on the very distinctive Ferrari as it sat idle in the traffic. She wondered for a moment why he couldn't have chosen a slightly less recognisable car to drive for the weekend. Although, all the eyes on him didn't seem to bother him in the slightest. He hadn't even acknowledged they were there.

"You could watch from the garage again, if you like?" He asked shyly.

"Oh you don't have to do that." Laura shook her head quickly. "Me and Anna will be fine, we'll make up. We fight sometimes, we're like sisters really."

"I wasn't meaning so you didn't have to watch with Anna." Charles said quietly, fingers drumming on the steering wheel. "I uh... I just liked having you in there. I think you might be my lucky charm, who knows... maybe you can help me break the curse."

"The curse?" Laura asked curiously.

"I think I spend too much time on TikTok." He laughed quietly. "If you believe the internet the race is cursed and I'm never going to win it."

Laura couldn't help but roll her eyes at him. The slight blush on his cheeks as she looked at him suggesting he knew just how ridiculous his words sounded. "First of all, that's ridiculous. Secondly, of course you're going to win... and just in case you need a little bit of extra incentive to do it... think of all the fun ways we could celebrate after if you do win."

The way her hand fell on to his leg, trailing up his thigh as she spoke, had his breath catching in his throat and he almost missed the fact that the car in front of him had finally started moving.

He'd been expecting her to move the hand away but it stayed planted firmly on his thigh, her fingers tracing in absent minded circles as she stared out of the window at the city, the feeling of her touch on him had him squirming in his seat as he tried to pay attention to the road. He was suddenly thankful that they'd be lucky to get above five miles per hour all the at down to the harbour, he probably ought to be able to manage that without crashing, even if his mind was literally anywhere but on the road.

A quiet groan escaped him as her hand moved slightly further into his lap, brushing against where he wanted her to touch him most. She gave him a devilish smirk as she twisted in her seat, folding her legs up underneath herself as she tried to get more comfortable.

The slit that ran up the leg of her dress fell open, revealing the smooth tanned skin that had featured so often in his dreams since the last night they'd spent together, and his hand reached out to trail over it, leaving a trail of goosebumps in his wake.

As the traffic lights turned red in front of them, and he was safe in the knowledge that he knew he wouldn't have to move for a minute or two, he leaned over, pressing his lips to her neck and her ear for a moment.

"I'm going to win that race tomorrow." He said quietly, the determination audible in his voice. "And then I know exactly how we are going to celebrate."
