- I left you far behind

- When?

- When I jumped from neutral to first

- How far back was that?

- couple of thousand kms

" If you stay at a place for too long, you become that place." I could never imagine how right Rocky Balboa would be (but then he had a title to defend.) I am happy that I have been moving around.

"I paint the windshield with colours of the country and the windows are an insight to the soul"

I do not know what was it...was it the adrenaline? Was it the fear of getting caught? Was it the rush?..was it the thrill? Was it the sense of freedom when the wheels turned as I slid from neutral to first gear? I think it was a bit of every damn thing!

I covered 7400 kms in 4 months. I hated every bit of it. I do not remember half of it. Highway hypnosis they call it. I do not recall how it looked, the visual part atleast but I do recall how it felt. Pretty great.

Would I do it again?

You bet!

Why?

Peace.

Is it the open road? The sound of wheels on the road? The thud of the shift?

I had a theory I made up while I was on the road...

I pictured all my problems in the first gear

Things I did wrong in the second.

What others did to me came in third

Fourth was all Flashbacks

I let it all go in fifth gear

And Sixth was we freedom; from everything..

(It just sounds all grandeur and masochistic in nature...it is not) My Bike was my world. I think it was the steering handle with which I felt I could steer my life along with the bike. The feeling of riding has still been the same way since I first rode my bike.

Happiness...

The automotive God has been kind to me (if there is such a thing). None of my bikes have ever given up on me. When I look at my bike, I see all the memories, the joys and the sorrows. Living life eh? Holding on to the steering was holding on to hope. Left my heart in a lot of places with the sunsets and the sunrises. I never took a picture, it was easier to burn them permanently in the memory. Another poem I wrote (or is it a prose?)

I took some red from the sun

Took some blue from the sky

Took some green from the earth

And painted the canvas of my windshield

HAPPY RIDING!

May you not ride faster than your guardian angel can fly...
