The rooftop's tension was palpable, almost suffocating. The city lights flickered below, but up here, it felt like a different world—a world where unspoken emotions and unacknowledged histories clashed violently in the still night air.
Phuwin stood there, confident and poised, his smirk cutting through the fragile peace like a knife. Winny lingered awkwardly by the rooftop door, shifting on his feet as the weight of the moment pressed down on him. Gemini and Fourth were rooted in place, their proximity close enough to suggest intimacy but far enough to show the growing distance between them.
"Phuwin,"
Gemini said finally, his voice cold, sharp.
"You don't belong here. Why don't you take the hint and leave?"
Phuwin chuckled, the sound low and infuriating.
"Gemini Norawit,"
he said, drawing out the name as if savoring it,
"so protective. It's almost endearing."
His eyes darted to Fourth, lingering too long, his gaze full of something that made Fourth visibly stiffen.
"Cut the crap,"
Fourth snapped, his voice trembling with barely restrained anger.
"Why are you here?"
Phuwin tilted his head, feigning innocence.
"Can't a guy drop by to catch up with an old friend?"
His tone was saccharine, but the malice underneath was unmistakable.
"Friend?"
Fourth barked a humorless laugh.
"We were never friends. You don't get to waltz back into my life like nothing happened."
Phuwin stepped closer, his smirk never wavering.
"Oh, but isn't that the fun part, Fourth? Seeing how much you've grown... or haven't."
His voice dipped lower, dangerously smooth.
"Tell me, does Gemini know all your secrets? Or are you still the same scared little boy who couldn't handle the truth?"
Fourth moved before he could think, closing the distance between them, his fists clenched tightly at his sides.
"Shut up,"
he hissed, his voice trembling.
"Fourth,"
Gemini said, stepping in quickly, his hand brushing against Fourth's arm. The contact was grounding, but it also sent a jolt of heat through the air between them.
"He's not worth it."
Phuwin's smirk deepened, his eyes glittering with satisfaction.
"Oh, Gemini, the knight in shining armor. But tell me, do you really think you can save him? Do you even know what you're saving him from?"
Gemini's jaw tightened, his voice low and threatening.
"You don't know a damn thing about us."
"Don't I?"
Phuwin countered, his tone almost a purr.
"You forget, I know exactly how he works. What makes him tick. What keeps him up at night."
He leaned slightly toward Fourth, his voice dropping to a whisper, though everyone could still hear it.
"Tell me, Fourth, do you still dream about me? About the things we did?"
