book two - brayden

I could see him there, hugging me tightly as a smile adorned his face for the first time.

We had just shared our first kiss.

I wished we did. But instead, our friendship is slowly crumbling.

"Tell me why the hell you're avoiding me." I growled, grabbing Ryan's wrist quickly. A strangled sound escaped him as I pulled him back towards me.

Ryan didn't answer. He just looked away, a snarl starting to build up. We were both angry, our blood boiling and mind ready to fight. Our hands were clenched and teeth bared. It was a surprise we hadn't lunged at each other yet.

"Let. Go. Of. Me." He muttered, trying to pull away from me.

"Then explain."

It lapsed back into an angry silence as we continued to stare at each other. We were still in school, but everyone left long ago. Our breaths were loud and seemed louder than it was with the empty hallway.

"I hate you." Ryan choked out after a while. "I fucking hate you." He said louder, shoving me back.

"What the hell did I do?" I asked, stepping closer to him once more. I kept my voice strong and angry even though my heart seemed to be falling out of my chest. He hated me.

A sigh left him and he leaned against the lockers, sliding down to the floor. His head was buried in his hands and soft sobs started to escape him.

"I hate you so fucking much." He stopped for a moment and looked up at me.

"Tell me why." I pleaded, my anger disappearing as I kneeled down next to him. "Please."

"B-Because..." he hiccuped.

"You made me love you."
