(I hereby officially dedicate this first paragraph in memory of this chapter's former title: "The Stars That Taught the Scars")

Luc was in his living room, on the couch, with the package with the evidence from the police station right in front of him. Having already done his whole  morning routine, he got a cutter knife in his hand and started cutting open the box. But just as he put the knife into the tape, his phone  started ringing. "Oh, are you kidding me?!" Luc looked at the phone, read the number, and saw that it  was from the police.

He accepted the call and put his phone  against his ear. "Detective Scarleight here." Luc said.  "Detective Scarleight, Officer Thorston here, I am calling to tell you  that I suspect a recent murder in Sage Street 21 might be connected to  the case you are currently working on and got official permission to let you come here."

"Got it! Thank you for informing me. I will be on site soon. See you, Officer." Luc said, his voice sounding  professional, while inside, he was beaming with happiness that at least his not so nice interruption was going to lead him to new evidence.

Almost immediately, he was on his bike, driving to the house. About 10 minutes  later, he arrived in front of Sage Street 21, a pretty typical one-family house. In front of the entrance were multiple police officers. Immediately, Luc was approached by one of them. "Let me guess, Officer  Thorston?" "Entirely correct!" the officer said, who sounded quite young for how he looked, "if you would follow me if you're ready to go, I  would guide you to the crime scene." "Of course, give me a few seconds." Luc said while putting off the engine and taking his helmet off.

But before he could start following Officer Thorston into the house, he  heard a familiar voice call him. "Luc? Mr. Scarleight?" Luc heard, and he immediately turned his head to the source, and his mood visibly  brightened up. "Mrs. Starleight!" Luc said, and he immediately walked to  her, shaking her hand, "It's been so long!".

Valentine  Starleight. Back in the day, when Luc was still learning, she was his teacher. A woman of 5,6Ft. (1,72 M) height. While she is only 43, from her looks, she looks like she's in her late 60s. Her walking cane, which she always has with her, despite not needing one, is not helping that. She has gray, hip-long hair, always tied together, and blue eyes. She wore a pretty usual outfit of just a red shirt and blue jeans.

"God, Luc, please, call me Valentine, you're not my Pupil anymore, no need for the formalities anymore." Valentine said, "I talked about him before, but let me introduce you to my older Brother Lucius." she said, pointing to the man next to her.

Luc looked besides Valentine and  saw, what was practically, a gender-bend version of Valentine. A bit  taller, standing at 6Ft. (1,86 M), he, too, looked older than he was. As  far as Luc could remember, he should be about 51 years old, but he looks  like he's in his early 70s. His hair was also gray and hip-long, tied  together, too. He wore a blue pullover and blue jeans, together with an open, gray overcoat. He didn't use a walking cane, though.

"Hello, good friend, you are Luc, I see. Always heard things about 'ya,  eh?" He said, in a happy tone. He gave Luc his hand too and gave it a tight squeeze, shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you but Valentine..." Luc started to speak after the handshake, giving his hand a small quick shake to ease the pain, looking at Valentine again, "What are you doing  here? Don't you live in North Narrolock? You have more important police work to do or not?" Which Valentine only laughed in response,  "Oh Luc, I may have ‚important' work there, but I also need my free days from time to time."

"Does that mean I can't convince you to help me with my current investigation?", Luc asked, more ironic than anything. "Depends entirely on the investigation." "Murder, most likely belonging to a spree, a serial killer, for your skill most likely an easy task."
