Sophia tried her best to ignore Lara as she stepped out of the school gates, but the sight of her leaning against the wall, arms crossed..

Lara probably didn't even care.

"Going somewhere?" Lara's voice cut through her thoughts.

Sophia didn't stop walking. "Not that it's any of your business, but no."

Lara pushed herself off the wall and fell into step beside her, not making any effort to hide the smirk on her face. "You're acting like you didn't notice me standing here. You're not that good at pretending."

But the words came anyway. "Just because I'm not interested doesn't mean you should keep poking at it."

"Ah, so that's it?" Lara raised an eyebrow, her tone dripping with mockery. "You're not interested. Right. So why are you still talking to me?"

Sophia glared at her. "You're the one talking to me hoe."

Lara chuckled, unfazed by the sharpness in her voice. "Fair enough. But don't think I didn't notice how you're always looking at me. Maybe you're just jealous of my beauty, you know."

Sophia stopped walking, unable to help herself anymore. "I'm not looking at you," she said, her voice low but firm. "Are you insane? You make me sick."

Lara raised both hands in mock surrender, stepping back slightly. "Alright, alright. Did I hit a nerve, ah poor little Sophia."

Sophia could feel her heart pounding, and it wasn't just from the confrontation. She wasn't sure why, but the way Lara always managed to get under her skin drove her mad. She needed to end this now, before it went too far.

Without another word, Sophia turned on her heel and walked away, leaving Lara behind.

As she walked, though, she couldn't shake the feeling that somehow, this wasn't the last time their paths would cross in a way neither of them could avoid.
