Asters POV
Ever since I was a little kid, I've always imagined myself being free. I was flying through the air, feeling the breeze caressing my face as I whipped past trees and birds. But even my imagination can't protect me from my reality, it was a bright pretty day outside I remember laying on the grass just hearing the wind in my ears and the beautiful fountain that my father installed a year ago, everything stopped when I heard mama's voice.
"Aster my child where are you me papa want to show you something"
As I hear her voice I come running know that if she came out to call me it must have been something really important mostly it would be one of the servants come and get me an escort me to mama and Papas destination.
"Yes mama"
"Oh there you are, my love, come on we don't want to keep papa waiting you know how your father gets"
As she says that she extends her hand out to me to take it and I do as so. I remember there was something different about that day. Maybe it was mamas perfume that she wore that day it was always a calming smell, that day we walked into our mansion something seemed off I remember Mom walking really fast as if we were going to miss a bus or plane I quickened my pace to her so she wouldn't leave me behind.
"Come on my little one"
"Yes mama"
As we walk to the beautiful mosaic doors that open to my father's office I can hear something from his office I looked up to my mother but she had a smile on her face I was a little-worried but-but she grabbed my hand and said "its ok child you should not fear" with those words I felt confidents in my mother's hands.
Knock knock
"Come on you two"
I walked into my father's study with my hand still on my mother's
" mi luz"
My father says he told me that that meant my light he said since the day I was born I brought light into the world so it was only right to call me my light
"PAPA!! Mama side you have something for me"
"Well.... My child right to the point I see" he said
"Yes papa you always told me to do that"
"Only nine years old and already thinking like her father"
My mother said as she put me in her lap.
" Yes my Catalina one day our beautiful daughter will run the family business just like her father, and like her grandfather's father"
"Joseph lets not talk about "the family business" ok"
"Yes my dear in do time she will know"
As my father said this he walked around from his desk and went into the next room he came back with a big black box that had a white bow on it.
"Come here mi luz I have something to show you, my love"
As I walk closer to the box it begins to shake I remember looking back at my mother but she motioning me to walk up I looked at my father he had the biggest smile on his face I didn't understand why.
"Come on my love don't be afraid"
My father said as I begin to walk closer to the box.
"Go on open it up Aster"
"Yes papa"
My hands are so shaky as I begin to untie the bow before I can even open up the box I get attacked by something wet when I open my eyes I realize it's a puppy attacking me with wet kisses.
"Haha. Stop stop"
I say to a puppy with all black fur and golden yellow eyes it was "beautiful" I said out loud I turn to see my parents my father has his arm around my mother's waist they both looked at me with very happy smile I even thought that my mother was crying but she never Cry's.
" we saw how lonely you looked so we thought that you should have a playmate and protector"
"THANK YOU, PAPA AND MAMA"
I said to them as I run over to them and give them a big hug as I did that my father been down on his keens so we were both facing each other he was a very tall man so it's only best for him to kneel down some.
" listen my daughter and very carefully"
I nod my head in agreement to what he was going to say.
"This dog will be your protect you will stay by his side and he will stay by your side, he will be your best friend and the only one you can trust"
"Daddy, what do you mean the only one I can trust?"
"Ah my little girl can read right through the lines you are a very smart little girl you know?"
"Yes papa I know"
"Can I trust you and mama?"
"Of courses my love and the only and the dog"
When he siad his he looks to the running puppy who was now sniffing at his plants
"Baby what are you going to name him"
My mother asks as she walks up and picks up the puppy who was now licking her face.
"I don't know mama... What about frank? Wait no I got it Hades that's it HADES"
Mama had a face of disapproval but Papa always has a goofy smile on his face so I guess it was an OK name.
" Hades.... My child the god of darkness and death of pain and torture and of the lost souls "
"Yes mama I like it, papa was reading me a book called The Odyssey and I remember that name it seems cool"
" JOSEPH WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT READING That KIND OF BOOKS TO HER!"
"I'M sorry my love but she wouldn't go to sleep that night and that's the only thing I had in my library that had adventure and action"
My mother looked at my father and nodded in approval of his apology meant then looked in shock when she stared at her shoes and realize that
Hades our new puppy just peed on her shoes."Well my child you named him correctly he is cruel"
I and Papa looked at Mama and start laughing when Mama looked up to see that we were laugh still laughing, she first looked at us and then gave us a serious look but then she realized that we weren't going to stop laughing and she joined in.
If only I knew that day would be last day I would ever see my parents happy again I would have had cherished it more,
But those days were gone...
