AMIR SADÉ BRIXTON

.. IF you tell me what it is you're looking for I could help so that you can stop tearing up my goddamn home. ❞ Amir called out from the middle of her living room.

About ten minutes ago, her older brother Ahmad had shown up at her front door – in a blind rage – banging on her front door just before he pushed his way in. Now he was running through each room, opening and slamming doors.

He had even looked up underneath her bed. Yet refused to tell her what it was he was looking for. But after the fourth door was slammed, she decided that she had had enough.

"Tell me what you're looking for." Amir demanded, feigning ignorance.

"Don't play in my fuckin' face Mir," Ahmad snapped, pushing past her into the hall. "Niggas called me saying they seen you bring Teeski ass in hea'."

Amir's blood ran cold, but she kept her expression neutral. "You've got to be fucking kidding me. Teeski? Are you serious right now?"

Ahmad turned to face her, his voice rising. "Don't act like I don't know yo' ass. You know damn well I don't fuck with his ass, and yet you out here sneaking round with the bitch?"

Amir folded her arms, her gaze steady. "First of all, this is my apartment. Second, why are you believing some random niggas over your sister? Especially when I said he not here."

"Because all yo ass do is lie!" Ahmad shot back, stepping closer. "Im not leaving this bitch til I find him. Where is he Mir?"

The both of them now stood in front of her guest bathroom, the one place he hadn't looked yet.

"You really think I'd  be dumb enough to let him in here?" Amir continued, her voice rising. "Fine, since you don't trust me," She pushed open the door, letting it hit the wall in the process, "Go 'head and look, it's the only room you haven't torn apart."

Her challenge hung in the air, and for a moment, Ahmad seemed to consider it. His eyes darted toward the hallway leading to the bathroom, his fists clenching and unclenching.

"Amir," he said, his voice quieter but no less intense. "You know how deep this shit get. If he's here and I find him, it's gonna be a problem."

"I already told you that there's nobody here." she said firmly. "I can't believe that you'd even accuse me of some shit like that. You're my brother Mhad and I'm with you, right or wrong."

He ran a hand over his face, his anger giving way to something softer. Guilt. He sighed heavily, shaking his head. "You right. I'm sorry. I just... I can't stand the thought of you being around this nigga again after all the shit that done happened..."

A small part of Ahmad expected his sister to just forgive him without a care in the world but he knew her too well. He also knew that when she folded her arms across her chest that he was no longer welcome at the moment.
