When the right time comes

18: Truth seems bitter

Dogs bark non stop, interrupting the peace inside. Dai Li, for a minute regret buying the Rottweilers on a whim. They might be wondering what place this is. She twisted and turned on her bed, trying to avoid the barks and concentrate on her sleep. But beside her, Wang Qingheng Jun also started to get disturbed. In his half sleep, he tried to pull a pillow onto his ears and when it failed miserably, woke his wife up, rolling her on the bed left and right. 

“Oh my god, A-Li! These creatures are eating my ears out. Do something.” 

On his complaints, she had no other choice and reluctantly got up from the bed. It would have been better if Yibo or Haikuan was home to tame them but both of them weren't there. Haikuan hadn't yet finished in the hospital and Wang Yibo literally sneaked out without his brother knowing and Dai Li let it be. Haikuan was a bit harsh on Yibo lately. He is protective about his brother from childhood onwards but still she thought it was a bit too much to restrict him from going out alone. That was why she turned a blind eye to him when he went out in the night. Clubbing or partying, she doesn't care. She just wants Yibo to have a good time from these suffocations. Yibo knows how to look after himself. She believes in her son no matter what. 

Rony and Ruby weren't barking for nothing. They just came there in the morning yet they are already loyal to the family they are now in. Looking at the darkness above the compound wall near them, they snarled, showing drool dripping sharp teeth and red gums.  

Dai Li called the two dogs back, showing them bowls full of pellets. It will took them a few more weeks to get acquainted to the call of the owner but the food must do the trick. They came running to her and she fearfully placed the bowls down as they neared her. As they started to much on it hungrily, she heaved a sigh and squinted her eyes through the darkness at the head on their compound wall. She smirked. There is no need of rocket science to know who it was.

“Eat well, dears. Eat well. From now on, you two would have to tear anyone who comes uninvited to our house, especially at night. Don't stop until they are only flesh and bones. Understand?” 

She said as if the hungry eating dogs could understand and eyed the head on the wall. The face wasn't clear but she saw it moving slightly. 

“If my Bobo was here, he would have appreciated you two for your braveness on roaming around the whole night. Alas! He is out with his friends.” She talked loudly, as an information for a certain someone to waste no time of theirs there anymore. 

Her husband cleared his throat from the door in anger. When she looked back, he glared at her. “Why do you care for him? You don't have to do this, actually.”

She smiled softly. “I know but I had a feeling that he truly loves Bobo. I don't wish them to be together, of course, but at the same time, I don't want him to curse our Bobo either.” 

“I can't understand your thoughts.” Wang Qingheng Jun frowned, leaning his body on the door frame and crossing his hands above his chest. 

Dai Li smiled. She looked back and saw the head was gone. Watching the dogs eating, she let out a hollow sigh. 

            Xiao Zhan was broken. He hoped it wouldn't be Yibo but yes. Yibo wasn't home. Whom he saw at the bar must be him. The pain was immense as he sat on the ground beneath, leaning onto the wall beside him. He bounced the back of head repeatedly on the wall and felt like tearing himself apart into pieces. It pained like hell. He couldn't imagine Yibo in someone else's arms. 

But it wasn't his imagination at all. Yibo already moved on from him. He no longer has a chance to pursue Yibo again. The milk in his glass is already spilled on the mud.
