“With all the respect, Laoshi, You may go.”
Huang Shen felt like he was slapped across the face. The reputation he had built by the hard work of years shattered into pieces. He became so small in front of his favourite student who once respected him like no one else did. The greater the respect, the stronger the hate would be if something happened that taints the dignity that he had built over years. He saw Haikuan pointing at the door that opens out.
With all the shame building up on his nerves, Huang Shen tried to get up with a strained smile but Jingyu caught his hand, sitting all composed and calm. He wasn't looking at Shen but Haikuan, who sent daggers at Shen by his look. Haikuan wasn't aware or he would have freaked out seeing the way of Jingyu observing him so calmly.
Wang Qingheng Jun intervened. “Haikuan, behave.” He pulled Haikuan by the arm, interrupting him from staring at Shen.“Apologize!”
His words were firm as if he doesn't want Haikuan to do otherwise.
“No!” Haikuan was stubborn. For, he doesn't know why his father was getting warm with the Huangs. It's his teacher and his family. On top, in Haikuan's views, those who took advantage of his respect towards them, who took his Didi for granted. Haikuan doesn't want to get in terms with them anymore.
Wang Qingheng Jun wasn't pleased with the public disobedience his son had done. A frown appeared on his forehead. He pushed Haikuan to his back, “We have to talk.” and then gestured him with eyes to back off.
Haikuan immediately stepped back, though a frown still remained on his face. He was confused.
Wang Qingheng Jun then turned to Shen, totally ignoring Haikuan's silent protests. “I apologise for the mistake he had made. I think marriage is a serious matter, especially when it was broken once before. Let us discuss it. We will inform you once we have made a decision after talking to Yibo.”
Huang Shen and the others also got up from their respective seats and returned a gesture. Huang Shen was partially relieved that Wang Qingheng Jun intervened. His words gave them hope.
“That's great.” Shen shook hands with Qingheng Jun. Soon, Jingyu too did the same. He seemed soft.
“Yes. Thank you, Mr. Wang Qingheng Jun. Sorry for interfering, I hope you understood why the engagement was called off. It's all on me. If not for me making such a mistake, none of these would have happened. We apologise for being so late to give you an explanation. We are extremely sorry.” He briefly shared a glance with his parents and bowed to Qingheng Jun. “We will be waiting for your call. Hope it will be positive. Everyone's happiness depends on your decision.”
What Jingyu said at the end would feel like he was pleading with Yibo's family to have his hand in marriage for Jingyu's gege. But Rui knows well the hidden threat behind those words. The happiness; if he can't have that, he would never let Yibo's family have it too. He will go to any extent.
She doesn't know why all this is happening. The one who made an attempt to take his own life when Xiao Zhan was about to get engaged with Yibo is now in Yibo's house, wanting to make Yibo his gege's husband.
No matter how deep she thinks, she couldn't understand why he is taking the initiative for this. Her guess is on the incident that happened days before at home. There must be something that is very serious between them; him and Xiao Zhan. Or else, Jingyu won't compel them to go to Yibo's home, the one whom he despised a lot. Do feelings change overnight? Or the medicines are effective enough to put some light in his head? Rui wasn't quite sure. Her prayers are going for it to be all good.
