CHAPTER III

Pyevepe remained unconscious, her body healing from the deep wounds left by the King of Chaos. Dream, Ink, and Sci had worked tirelessly to dismantle the remnants of the chaos chains, their combined magic breaking them down to nothing but dust. The lingering effects of the King's magic had been a challenge, but it was nothing that Dream's healing could not mend, though the process was slow.

Pyevepe's body was now bandaged by Alphys, who had taken great care in ensuring the wounds on her left arm and torso were properly treated. Despite the care, the scars would be permanent—reminders of the battle she'd endured.

Dream stood nearby, his green aura still gently glowing as he watched over her artifacts, weapons and her damaged armour. He had placed her many artifacts in a safe, secure spot. The golden shard of limitless energy pulsed faintly, drawing attention even in its stillness. It was an object of great power—an item Dream wasn't yet sure how to handle. His mind wandered to the implications of its existence. It was not just a tool;it was something he couldn't place his boney finger on. He had to keep it protected, especially now that this woman was unconcious.Ink hovered around, pacing. His bright energy was more subdued now. His hands were covered in ink stains from his many attempts to help Pyevepe, and he hadn't been able to shake the guilt that clung to him. It gnawed at him every time he looked at her fragile form.

"This is getting ridiculous," he muttered, his voice quieter than usual. "We need answers. She's not just some human,Dream. She's something... more. That shard. That aura and magic. The fact that she was able to hold off that demon for as long as she did..." He stopped pacing and met Dream's gaze. "What if we can't protect her from him? What if he comes after her again?"

Dream didn't answer immediately. He was focused on Pyevepe, his brow furrowed in thought. He had witnessed the cruelty and what that being was capable of doing. He hoped Nightmare doesn't find him and recruits him.The confrontation had shown Dream just how fragile they all were in the face of such overwhelming destruction. Still, he wasn't ready to give up.

"She's more than just a human, Ink," Dream said quietly, his voice steady despite the storm brewing in his chest. "We don't know the full extent of her magic, but if she can survive that, there's hope. We just have to keep her safe long enough to understand what's happening."

"But we need answers," Ink insisted. "What's the deal with her being so close to that thing? I've seen enough AUs to know that kind of connection doesn't just happen."

"I know," Dream responded, his tone a little sharper now. "And we will find out. But right now, we need to make sure she's okay. After that, we'll figure out how to move forward."

Alphys, who had been monitoring Pyevepe's vitals, glanced up from her work. "I've done what I can, but it's up to her now. She's strong—stronger than she looks. She will live."

Sci, who had been quiet up until then, finally spoke. "Once she wakes up, we need a plan. And I don't know about you, but I'm not going to let him win."

Dream nodded solemnly. "Neither am I.I feel we will have a bigger problem at hand."

A few days later

Pyevepe slowly stirred, the weight of the world pressing down on her. Her body felt foreign, as though it no longer belonged to her, and the dull ache of wounds long since treated throbbed faintly. She blinked, her vision blurry at first, before slowly focusing on her surroundings.

The soft light that filtered in through the windows cast a calming glow, the air smelling faintly of lavender and something else she couldn't quite place. The walls were painted in a soothing baby blue, and the bed beneath her was surprisingly soft, as though designed for comfort rather than practicality. She could feel the plush blankets draped over her, cocooning her in warmth, and the stark contrast to the cold, desolate void where she had last been made her question where she truly was.
